The Message Waiting indicator light is typically a notification pushed from your PBX to your phone, as your voicemail does not actually reside on your phone, but rather centrally on your PBX system itself. If you are not always getting MW indications on your phone, it could be an issue with your PBX/Extension configuration. Check the connection between phone and module. You may just need to replace the module. Refurbs are just as good as new ones and a lot cheaper.

Sounds like you have VOIP and this is at work. If so, the Avaya handset is analogous to a PC. That is, it has an IP address and that address is tied into a network port. First, you can try getting the old and new port address off the wall jacks. Go into the telephone closet and locate the phone switch and patch panel. The port address at the switch and panel should match those addresses at the wall jack. Simply patch the cable from the old port address to the new port address at the telephone switch. Most organizations have IT folks that will do this for you.

Reboot the control unit. If you dont get a solid light on the phone 16, power everything off, then power up the phone 30 wait 15 seconds, then any other expansion module, 15 seconds after the last expansion module, power up teh control unit...
