Traeger grill overheating on smoke setting
Make sure you are leaving it open long enough when you first turn it on. Everything in the smoke chamber needs to burn up before you begin. There also may be grease buildup in the bottom of your smoker that is catching on fire. If neither of these two possibilities work, contact Traeger support

Treager smoke auger won't turn
If the auger won't turn because it's jammed, here's details direct from Treager
Elswise, I would check your electrical on the back of your control panel. There should be three sets of two-wire leads: (1) Purple/White=Hot Rod; (2) Orange/White=Induction Fan; and (3) Red/White=Auger. Obviously, check the Red/White leads for voltage and continuity.

Nothing works, no fan, no auger
Sounds like no power. Is it plugged into a GFI circuit that might have tripped. On its website in the FAQs Traeger mentions that if pellets get wet, this can cause a GFI circuit to trip and they suggest a specific remedy. Check out their website at
http://www.traegergrills.com/ and if necessary contact their service techs who can help you troubleshoot.

Our traeger smokes but the fan does not run consistantly?
The fan is not supposed to run consistently. The purpose of the fan is to help control the temperature. It runs hard at first to help get the fire started then it slows down to maintain the temperature you've set. If you change to a higher temperature or if the temperature drops below what you've set, the fan will run faster causing the fire to burn hotter. You'll also find that as the temperature increases the amount of smoke will decrease.

On smoke setting my temp goes up over 300 degrees
Traeger suggests realignment of the augur for grills that are not getting hot enough. I wonder if this might be the same solution for grills that are getting too hot.
Here's their solution which I copied from the Traeger website at
http://www.traegergrills.com/.
I've been noticing that my grill temperature keeps dropping lower. What is the problem?
You need to "true" your auger. To do this:
- Run the unit out of pellets.
- Remove the allen screw and nut out of the auger and motor shaft.
- Try spinning the auger shaft over the motor shaft. The auger shaft should spin freely over the motor shaft without binding.
- If the auger binds, loosen the 7/16th inch bolts on the motor bracket and move bracket until you can rotate the auger shaft over the motor shaft. Then re-tighten 7/16th inch bolts. Make sure auger shaft still rotates over motor shaft, or repeat step 4 again until it does.
- Reattach auger and motor shafts using the screw and nut which you removed in step 2.
You might want to contact Traeger at their website to verify that this is a solution for overheating. In the above case, the improperly aligned augur was not dropping enough pellets in the firepot. In your case, it sounds like it may be dropping too many. This sounds like a routine maintenance thing that ought to be done periodically anyway.

I have an older traeger and it doesnt seem to heat up on high mode. it has 2 fans and both work but one seems to knock now and again. when i cook chicken on high it will take 2 hours to cook.
The Traeger website at
http://www.traegergrills.com/ has an FAQ about grills not reaching the appropriate temperature and how to adjust the augur to fix the problem. Here's what they say:
Q. I've been noticing that my grill temperature keeps dropping lower. What is the problem?
Hope this helps

When does the inducer fan come on?
On my Junior, it starts as soon as I turn the unit on. The air from the fan is needed to help the pellets start burning.

Igniter is not working
Probably needs replacing. You can start the fire manually. There are instructions for doing this in the owners manual and on the Traeger website at
http://www.traegergrills.com/ where you can also order replacement parts and installation instructions.
