Just past the gas jet there is a tube called a 'Venturi', and you will often find they are partially blocked with spider nests. You can buy a special brush to clean them out. There is also an adjustment on them to add more air. Finally somewhere on the gas control valve there is a screw to adjust to amount of gas coming through. Normally you adjust on the lowest setting to establish a Low steady blue flame that is stable and doesn't blow out or 'pop' and go out. Reach out to the company.

There appears to be no recalibration mode on this unit which is bad. Having said that, this is cooking thermometer, so the internal temperature of your steak being 130'F or 132'F isn't going to matter. My thermometers at work were calibrated every week in iced water slurry and the results recorded in a log. Here is the manual. Check the new element with a test meter / multimeter, set to ohms. check the old one too. If the old one has continuity, then the issue is the wiring, the thermostat / thermistor or the control panel itself. make model (what it is) in all questions please.

This is common on BBQ grills in the winter. Blow the jets out with a can of compressed air to get rid of spider cocoons. The other issue is that Propane doesn't vaporize as well in winter. You should turn the gas valve off at the end of the summer to maintain the pressure in the tank.

There is most certainly something in your gas lines that is disconnected, rusted through or out of alignment. Find where that excess gas is and fix that point. Look for holes in gas lines or something that is slightly pulled apart.

many gas appliances have a safety valve that only allows gas to flow if the start button is depressed, or if the device senses if the flame is lit (usually by sensing the temperature nearby the burner, sometimes by electronic means) this is to stop the gas should it bet extinguished or not lit for some reason. it may be that you have to wait longer before releasing the button so that the unit gets properly hot (you might have tried this already) if that doesn't work the maybe it needs replacing, but perhaps it could be some sort of damage/distortion or dirt that is effecting the valves ability to sense that the flame has been successfully lit. Of course it might be simpler than that - if it is a new appliance (to you) then perhaps track down the basic user manual in case you are not using right technique (just press or press and turn?)

Solution #1 is the answer -- replace the regulator. The problem is that the regulator is stuck closed. You can either replace it, or pop the little metal cap on the top off and adjust it. (Use a large philips screwdriver). Do a full turn counter-clockwise, and then 3/4 of a turn clockwise.

That doesn't sound possible. Grills don't turn themselves on. someone has to turn the propane on and turn the knob and press the igniter.
