New CPU installed! Please enter setup to cnfigure

It means that the Chasis or the cabinet which holds the motherboard, CPU, GPU, etc. is open. It's a security feature offered by some OEMs where a connector found on a motherboard can detect if the chassis component has been removed or replaced. Some OEMs also offer onboard speaker or PC chassis speaker which goes off in situations like these. This is a hardware problem, and in most of the situations, you need to put the jumper back on the motherboard with the pin labeled chassis signal and ground. Sometimes OEM offers a simple switch which is automatically armed when you close the chassis properly. So check if that's the problem you are facing.

Asus p5b not booting up

One bad lead or faulty connection point can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive boot up

test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause you problems computer needs all of the data and power to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work properly

a motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd drives need to have current go through make sure these devices are working

might be getting hot

check the CPU make sure it has thermal paste and dust free secure seating

also check your computer ram modules and cmos battery make sure they are dust free and securely seated some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

hope this helps you

My pc won't turn on

Hi,
Disconnect all the power cables from the MB.
Starting with the 20/24 pin plug connect that and try turning it on.
if you have a 4 pin molex, connect that next, then turn it on
if that works connect the HD and turn it on again.
if that works, plug in the CD/DVD

Just a process of elimination.

If none of those work, try reseating the RAM, CPU, and Video Card (if you'r not using the MB Graphics)
also, check that the case switch cables are correctly connected to the MB. I've had them reversed before and that will cause many a sleepless night.

One of those has got to be causing it to not turn on.

Hope this helps!

My system won't start. I testd the power supply

You may now have a "frozen" system. Try this and see if it helps.

  1. Open your computer case. Make sure it is not plugged to avoid danger.
  2. Remove the RAMs from the motherboard.
  3. Power ON your computer. Your system should BEEP to indicate that is detected an error.
  4. Power OFF your CPU and return the RAMs in place. Your computer should be working now when you turn it ON.

P5b-e mother board: USB ports on MB stopped

I would update the bios, uninstall the drivers for the ports, download the latest, and reboot. If the machine recognizes the ports, it will begin searching for drivers. Interrupt the search and manually install the drivers. If this does not good, I would reinstall the operating system. Also, use the drivers from ASUS...

Using an Asus P5B -E Plus motherboard for 2 years

this beep code is described from ASUS as a video card issue. Perhaps your chipset is failing. if you are using a 3rd party video card. try removing it or re attaching it. If you are not using a 3rd party. i suggest you do. and disable the onboard in the bios.

Asus P5B -E Plus motherboard Beeping during bootup (Repost)

If you are hearing the code right. 1 then 3 you can have a cpu bad or bad memory, remove memory or find (borow) new. try that, also try a new battery Time error. Then start from scratch - take everything loose from the board nothing but the board, one stick of memory, no hard drive, no video card, if you get the same code your cpu is going. If you get different code try the video card if you get the old code thats the problem. Clear as mud? Yep clear as mud.

PC WONT START ASUS A7S8X-MX

Before you started disconnecting everything, did you notice whether the CPU fan was running or not? If it failed for any reason, the CPU is fried; none of them will tolerate the lack of cooling for very long. Also, bad memory can freeze a system for sure; if you have friend using compatible memory, beg him to let you swap yours into his board and vice versa. I've found failed memory more times than I can count and finally learned to substitute early and save a lot of time troubleshooting stuff that wasn't broken.
It pays to own a cheap multimeter so you can check the individual voltages from the main supply since they can very surely fail piecemeal and any outputs used must be there otherwise the train won't leave the station. Most supplies will have the available outputs lised on them. Don't know in which country you reside but in the US, you can buy a usable digital meter for <$20 US any time and if near a Harbor Freight, they often have them for 3 lousy bucks.

BTW, the CMOS backup battery is way too young to have failed; three years is pretty much a minimum and I have replaced 8 year old batteries that finally couldn't hack it any longer.
I hope you know to take precautions before touching anything inside to discharge any static charge you might have from carpets or clothing. Touching any part of the bare metal chassis after gaining access is adequate.
