How do I remove the BIOS password from an HP Laptop Probook 6450b, that has Ubuntu

The only way I know to reset or clear the password is to know the original one. BIOS passwords are stored in Flash memory and therefore cannot be cleared by removing the CMOS battery like in the good old days.

I just bought a used no manual hp probook 6455b laptop & can't figure out how to turn wifi on

I'm assuming your using Windows 10. Look at the keyboard. On the top row of buttons, just above the numbers, there are a series of 'f' number buttons. Check button f12. It should have a small light on it. White means the wifi is turned on, orange means it is turned off. press the button to switch it on and off. The laptop uses the term "Airplane Mode". If this doesn't work you will need to check your WiFi network is listed on the laptop. Go into 'Settings' and go to the 'Network & Internet' settings. Go to the WiFi settings button listed on the left of the screen. You should see your network listed. If you cannot see it listed go to "see available networks" and click your network. It will ask for your security Code to be able to connect.

When power is on shutdown by itself

It sounds as if your laptop is overheating. You need to service the cooling system by clearing any dust and debris from it and also applying fresh thermal paste.

Hp probook 4730s all of my USB ports (4) will not work. is there something I can try to fix this?

did you change OS> did change the OS since bought new? no OS stated, why does not one person here say what OS is there.???? its half the system. that. it came new with Linux or windows XP to Windows 8.1 in 32bit and 64bit versions (click control panen, click system) behold the true OS name and version before your eyes. its like saying my FORD died, and no model, gee a Model "A:? here are some facts, most times. dead USB is this. you changed the OS and failed to use the HP driver at HP.com now 1 usb chip works and the other does notl my Elitebook does that, I upgraded to W10 (with zero HP support on purpose) then USB 3 ports went dead, so had to ID the chip its a NEC chip the Intel inside is USB2 only. then the NEC web site had my chip driver. and now those ports work. See how not saying your OS makes help so hard, this is my example. first test the ports only with a test mouse (test all ports now) think small think simple and a mouse is that. does that fail, i can think of 100s of USB devices that will fail hard in w10, all old things why not tell the helper what you plugged in. and be web connected are you.? tell if DM device manager shows any errors at all? did you first use device manager, to see that device fail plugged in? and then right click it and pick update this driver. or did DM shows all USB ports dead.? it just 2 clicks to get there. then it fails, if yes, then MS does not have the driver, we can go to MS right now and prove that. if i get the HARDWARE IDs out of your Device manager page and look in the MS data base i can see if it is supported. case in point old web cams not. old USB wifi dongles not. and more 100s not and 100s yes. that is how it works and goes. now lets got HP.com and look first there, they made it , NOT MS. lets say you said w8.1-64bit OS and i show. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-probook-4730s-notebook-pc/5060893 load all the 4 lines of drivers there. there are 3 paths here get the drivers from HP. get them from MS, automatically PnP or manually (ask now manually) get them from the USB chip maker, intel or whomever. if the USB chip really is dead, and the HP driver fails. (I bet not) then get the hardware IDs. tell me that and will fetch them for you easy. its really easy if you know how,and all ways how. if this shows errors , anywhere here, the driver for these chips are wrong.! if you learn how to get the Hardware IDs its 10x more easy. usbnormal-acynybaztzcmm2mvmvzetwcp-4-0.jpg

My six months old probook has been having a problem: the mouse occassionally flickers and glitches, is there anything to do?

1) Go to device manager and uninstall the mousepad / mouse driver, then reboot 2) Go to the HP website and find driver downloads for your probook and download and install the most up to date version of the mouse pad driver. 3) Download and run a BIOS update to bring the system bios up to date. 4) Run malware scan to check for memory hogging malware utilities which can cause such glitches, and remove them.

Hp error codes

1. Open your Network and Sharing Center. You can do this through the control panel or by clicking on the wireless (bars) icon in the task bar. 2. On the top left of the Network and Sharing Center page, click on Manage Wireless Networks. 3. A list of Networks appears. Either move your wireless network to the top of the list, or delete the additional networks so that only your main wireless network remains. The "Limited Connectivity" sign should now turn off and you should be connected. OR 1. Disable the IP Helper service: 1. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter 2. Scroll down to the IP Helper service, right click on it and select Properties 3. In the dropdown box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to Disabled and then click on "Apply" 4. Then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session 5. Click OK to exit the dialog ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233 Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756 (How to back up and restore the registry in Windows) Windows 7 cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows 7. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID} 3. In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network. 4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value. 5. In the New Value #1 box, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, and then press ENTER. 6. Right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, and then click Modify. 7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. 8. Close Registry Editor. By setting this registry key to 1, Windows 7 will first try to obtain an IP address by using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, it will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. About the second issue that your computer is not shutting down properly, you can perform a clean boot and check which application is causing this issue. Perform the following steps to perform a clean boot:1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. User Account Control permission. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, Or click Continue. 2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. 3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box. 4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. 5. Click OK. 6. When you are prompted, click Restart. 7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved. If the issue is resolved check which third party is causing the problem, referring the link given below: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Also you need to uninstall and reinstall the problem software on your computer. Reset the computer to start as usual After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:1. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. 2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK. 3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

Hi, It is because of keyboard layout . I think it must be set to different language. I would suggest you to try changing the input method :

To add a keyboard layout for a language

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.)
  2. Enter language, choose Settings, and then tap or click Add a language.
  3. Choose the language that you want to add a keyboard layout to, tap or click Options next to the language name, and then tap or click Add an input method.
  4. Browse the input method list or use the search box to look for the keyboard layout you want to use.
  5. Double-tap or double-click the keyboard layout, and then tap or click Save.

To make a keyboard your default keyboard

To set a keyboard as your default keyboard, follow these steps:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then clickSearch.)
  2. Enter language, choose Settings, and then tap or click Add a language.
  3. Tap or click Advanced settings.

Keyboard and track pad are not working, completely unresponsive.

Try and external keyboard and mouse. If they work then re-install keyboard and mouse drivers by removing then first and let the OS do it. If this doesn't work your pc might be infected. Try to clean it or save data and re-install OS, that is if the external keyboard and mouse work. If not then it is a hardware problem.

HOW DO I GET BLUETOOTH ON MY HP PROBOOK

it must come built-in if you have it. You will need to look in the Device Manager to see if you have it, and if the Device Driver is properly installed. If it is, then you can turn it on and use it. Go to the HP support site and download the User Manual for your exact model laptop.
