First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Turn on your computer and locate the Wi-Fi icon. This could be located on the upper row on a laptop it will have the radiation look ((())) Make sure its pressed on. Usually a wifi enabled phone, computer, or whatever device, will recognize if there is wifi access near you. If not you may need to turn on the wifi on those devices. Usually those setting can be found in menus like Network Settings. Once it recognizes the network you will need the password if it is required. Just enter that in and you are set. Where you enter the password is usually in the same menu in which you turned on your wifi enabled device. if still no connection Power on the laptop computer and wait for the operating system to boot. Right-click the wireless Internet icon in the lower right corner of the desktop. This brings up a new pull-down menu. Select "View Available Wireless Networks." This brings up a selection of different possible Internet connections that are in range of the computer. Select the wireless Internet connection you want to use. If a password is required, you need to type it in now. Wait for the laptop to connect to the Internet. In a moment the computer is going to state it has successfully connected to the Internet. Click Start, Run type in cmd and click Ok to bring up a command prompt. Type ipconfig /all and press enter and see if it gives you an IP address similar to 192.168.1.100. Check your wireless connection properties under My Network Places. Right click the wireless connection icon and choose properties. microsoft has a license type called OEM which detects the computer that it is installed on and some computers have the licence key stored in the bios of the computer.
So when you grab the old hard drive and put it in the next computer Windows will detect you changed computers and not run as per OEM licensing rules that it runs on only the original purchased computer.
You might be able to run the drive as a secondary drive but you would need to install a new windows operating system and hard drive. And then use a partioning program to make the secondary drive not an active drive.
also you new machine most likely has a different type of bios called EFI
and you would have to change its settings to run AMI Bios but I do not think that is your problem as I think it is OEM but it might be worth investigating if you can run a legacy bios in the bios settings.

Hi there. If your desktop has been overheating for any reason you will need to look at buying a new processor (cpu), power supply (if wires have been damaged from heat or voltage spike), or possibly a new motherboard. It would be advisable to have a computer shop look at the internal components of your desktop. Heat or a surge in power can damage the computer hardware. Good luck!

hello and good morning.
emachines are old and now owned by acer.com (gateway, etc)
they OWN many old names.
you are running XP right? the last man on earth to do so?

XP is a virus magnet and doomed, it is time to upgrade.
this PC is 2007 made. so is 12 years old, today..
the RTC coin cell battery will be no good now, replace it for $2
then reset BIOS inside BIOS screen " set default"
then test the HDD, to be sure it is ok, if not? then reloading any OS of any kinds is not going to work with any bad HDD.
Last, reload a new OS.
there are the steps. and can be expensive, spent on any PC this old with zero street value. ($0 if broken a it is)

You'll have to unsolder the entire battery holder and replace it with a new one. Not suggesting you try it unless you have the proper desoldering equipment. Otherwise, damage to the motherboard will result
