Picture has initial distortion then clears

Just check this link and pull up older posts there by its left side bar. Being a technician, you can gasp the posts there I assumes. If you wish to get more assistance from me, be free to comment by FiXya. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/. From the details of fault report, you've given here, I assumes it not to be with any loose contact. Some other causes might have. As you know, troubleshoot and to reach the exact point of fault is very difficult in case of any electronic equipment. Amn't I right? Welcome my friend. Get me more details, after refer the link.

Samsung LE26R7 4BD, approx 4 years old, colour distortions

Check all of your cables on the back of the tv and your sources such as Cable,Sat box and DVD palyer to make sure they are fully inserted into the input and output connectors. Some times Component cables will work loose and you end up with a missing color. Temprature changes can affect intermittant connections. If that does work then you have a bad Main bd.

The T'Con board should be suspected. But before confirming, check all the flat cable connections that goes to panel from T'Con board for loose contact. Re-seat them once and check. If you wish to get more details about these kind of faults, check this link. It has details with illustrations.

My samsung le32r74bdx remote control wont change

You can verify that the remote is working. Get a digital camera with a LCD display.
Aim the remote at the camera lens and press the volume and channel buttons. If you do not see
a flash through the camera the remote is bad or the batteries are dead.
If you know someone with any samsung hdtv remote, you can borrow it and try the volume/channel
to see if the tv remote receiver is good.

SAMSUNG LE32R73BDX/XEU TV

just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)
