Band of dot's(millions) across screen only whilst
I think I have a good idea of what you're experiencing.
Our minds are so set in the low-def mode that when those extra lines are filled in for high-def it looks like a bunch of dots. Notice everything is so much more clear? I thought the same thing when I watched my first blu-ray disc.
Watch something in high-def and then go back to standard immediately after. You'll notice that you can't get near as much detail off of the low-def.
Those dots are your mind trying to put high-def into low def.
Hope this helps; please rate my solution accordingly
Respectfully,
Don

Cannot get bbc 1 2 3 have retuned several times.
Do you use off-air signals (the bunny ears) or a cable/satellite/fiber-optic box?
With off-air signals, it is most likely that
A. the station is broadcasting 1080i content to a 720p TV or
B. the station in experiencing technical difficulties, is currently unavailable in your area, or is being blocked by a large tree.
Otherwise, this is a problem with your receiver. Check your settings and ensure that the station is currently available in your area.

My daughter can't get BBC1, 2 and 3 since 4
When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.
If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.
If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.
NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.

Sound but no picture samsung 40" lcd
It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted
due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:
- Grab a flashlight.
- Turn on the TV.
- Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
- If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
- Replace which ever is the culprit.

LE26R74BDX TV Not responding to Remote
there is a easier way to check your remote.
Open your radio on AM frequencies, you don't need to be tuned just noise is perfect, then bring your remote near the antenna and press some button. You will ear the frequency in your radio. If it works this way but not on the TV make sure to press the TV button before using it (if the remote is universal).
