The stand by red light keeps switching on and off resulting in no
Most of the time this problem is caused by the power supply in the set. Capacitors on the circuit board wear out. Usually the ones rated at 10 or 16 volts. You can see a physical bulge of the defective components in most cases. The way to repair this is to either replace the bad parts or the circuit board itself. If you take this to a repair shop the cost should be less than half the cost of a replacement tv or 125-295 u.s. dollars. If you have test equipment and solder/desoldering equipment you can repair it for 20 dollars or less. The only way to be sure that this is the problem is to have someone disassemble the set and check it. But this has been only a very educated guess. Good luck, Russmann.

Screen is two different brightnesses
You may have burned out one or more cold cathode fluorescent lamps "CCFL" and that is why the screen brightness varies. Each side L and R usually contains 2 for a total of 4 CCFLs If one burns out you will still have one lighting up the screen however since there is 2 on one side and only 1 lighting on the other side this may be the problem and you may need to seek a replacement CCFL or send your screen to the company for repair.

Although it would be helpful to have the model number, many turn-on issues are related to a fault in the main power supply. Please supply the model number so that I may give you product specific information.

Tv won't switch on
Try this: Turn it off, disconnect everything from the set (speakers, DVR, etc.). Unplug it from the wall, push the on/off button and hold it in for a least sixty seconds. Hook it all back up and it may have reset. No guarantees but it has worked for me.
