This model has a history of touchpad problems. Most times it is the ribbon cable that has come disconnected from the board. The connector is beneath the "C Cover" or top coer assembly. This is not for at the faint hearted. LOL. If you can keep track of screws and sizes. The manual may be helpful. Most IBM/Think models have full videos on how to repair replace something on the thinkpads. This model does not have one that I could find. But here is the manual

Try Removing your battery first then unplug the Power adaptor from the system, then press and hold down the power button to do a power drain on your systems motherboard.

return your battery then try powering the system using battery only.
if the system still wont power up using battery, plug in your adaptor go in windows, go to add remove programs or programs and features depending on what windows your system has, once in either one of the two look for energy management uninstall it from your system then restart the computer one last time try powering using your battery only.
If still this does not work powering the system using battery try updating drivers for your motherboard go to the lenovo website consumersupport.lenovo.com for the chipset drivers download

if still nothing has changed call lenovo probably something is wrong with your motherboard or battery you may need to send the system back to lenovo for further checking.

Then, you telephone Lenovo, and ask for Technical Support on how to unset/bypass the BIOS-password.

Hi. I would suggest to powerdrain your laptop and try to charge it after the powerdrain. To powerdrain your computer you must remove first the battery and unplug the ac adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds while the battery and ac is out. After that place back the battery and plugin the ac adapter and turn on your computer and see if its charging or not. Regarding your problem about the ITUNES software you could try uninstalling first the itunes and then download the latest version from google and install it on your computer. Hope this helps

if this is a new installation it could be admin admin or admin enter key only ( blank)

otherwise its not possible to guess what it was changed to if not a new installation. there is software that you can buy to crack it.

it might be the problem on the battery. Pls call our Lenovo support at 1-877-4-536686 for battery replacement...

try this step:

click start > type run (hit enter)> type regedit and click OK

click the arrow beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
click the arrow SYSTEM
click the arrow CURRENTCONTROLSET
click the arrow CONTROL
click the arrow CLASS
click the folder 4D36E965
remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters on the right side of the registry.

Restart the PC and play the CD if it works...

Hi deartone, you can try these steps:

You can power drain the pc if the bios won't update.. Turn off the pc
then unplug cables from the desktop or laptop then remove the battery (only on laptop) , then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.

Then replug all cables and batteries. Then turn on the pc and check the Bios if it updates.

make sure you shut down the pc completely, wait for 30 seconds
press and hold the lenovo button for 5 seconds, if it does not come up
call this number 1-877-4-536686 for possible repair of your pc

hi rwestover, to configure this to factory setting, turn off the pc. Then upon turning on the pc, repeatedly press F2, then select Lenovo One Key Rescue system, once there select Lenovo One Key recovery, then select restore to factory default, then click next, then click start to restore from initial state.

Hi nailah4200, if your LCD screen is plaid , please call the lenovo support hotline 1-877-4-536686. They will check the manufacturer's warranty and if it is active, they will send that pc for depot.

Your HDD has corrupted. I'd advise you to put your operating cd in cd tray and reboot. once it says boot through CD hit any key on keyboard and follow the wizard for repairing your corrupt operating system. This thing occurs when some virus corrupts your boot.ini or auto.exe. Ignore the repair option when it comes for the first time. type r when it comes for the second time in wizard

If the pre-installed operating system is not windows xp and you just upgraded/downgraded to XP, you have to download the drivers for your audio device. You can download the drivers at: http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/driversdownloads/drivers.html

once you're at the website, type the serial number of your computer and hit search. scroll down to see the audio categories and select the driver for you audio device that is compatible with windows xp

I have seen these instructions for Lenovo laptops - specifically that the laptop needs to be off when connected and then booted to enable the S-Video - no details available on the IBM site I can find

• Make sure the laptop is off
• connect S-Video lead to your tv
• switch the TV to you S-Video AV input
• Switch onlaptop
• Now press the fn key + f7 key together - do this as the system is booting

If that does not work, try going into the display advanced features - not sure if you have vista or XP or windows - post back what you have , and look for a setting for TV out
