WOW SP3 was the culprit!

Here are several links to read and decide whether to use SP3 or not. I personally created my own SP3 cd from an SP3 iso file and installed it on my systems. I have not encountered any problems .(knock on wood)

New and Enhanced Functionality in SP3:

Networking
"Black Hole" Router Detection: Now, this detection is on by default and is for detecting routers that are silently discarding packets. This feature is also available in Vista
NAP Network Access Protection: Policy enforcement that protects networks. It is now included Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP SP3. Available in RTM (release to manufacturers) version of Vista

Security
Descriptive Security Options User Interface: More descriptive text, hopefully this will provide better explanations of options.
Enhanced Security for Admin. And Service policy entries: All new policy is present by default and after authentication cannot be removed.
Microsoft Kernel Mode Cryptographic Module: A new Kernel module that fixes a known problem with Microsoft's cryptographic application.
Windows Product Activation: Users can now complete the operating system installation without providing a product key. The keyless install option will allow installs of XP SP3 to proceed without using a product key for 30 days. This option is also available for Vista SP1 will not update your Internet Explorer 6 to Internet Explorer 7. But it will update either your IE 6 or your IE7. From what I've been able to tell so far, the same is true of Windows Media Player. The update does not install the current Media Player 11 as a part of the fixes or additions.

Per PC World:

"Since SP3 was supposed to be mostly a bug-fix/patch consolidation release, the unexpected speed boost comes as a nice bonus," Barth said. "In fact, XP SP3 is shaping up to be a 'must-have' update for the majority of users who are still running Redmond's not-so-latest and greatest desktop OS."

If you mean watch what you see on your laptop on your TV, then you need to connect an HDMI cable or S-Video cable (depending on what sort of ports you have) from your laptop to your TV, then select the appropriate input on your TV or TV remote. For example if connected via HDMI and your TV has 2 HDMI inputs (ie. HDMI 1 and HDMI 2), select which one you connected to.

The Sony PCG-661L takes DDR PC2100 low density 200pin SODIMM memory. You can have up to 512MB in each slot (there are two slots).
The memory is located underneath the keyboard not on the bottom of the laptop. You have to lift the keyboard up carefully with a very small flathead screwdriver. On both sides of the keyboard there are small tabs that you can press on to release the keyboard. One tab is located just to the right of the "backspace" key. The other tab is located just to the left of the "~" key. Just don't lift the keyboard too much as you will break the keyboard<->motherboard connector. You will see the memory on the right side underneath the keyboard.

that message is from the automatic updates windows makes from time to time ...and this message usually appears after a fresh install with the operation system out of date ..and if you have the automatic updates ticked for to be made automatically ..The thing to be done is either let it install the updates...and it will shut down by itself...or ..start windows..and go to control panel ..and on the automatic updates...stop the updating process..This will cause a message to appear in the tray system every time ..to warn you that your computer is out of date ..and so ...but it has no real distress cause it will run like a charm even without the updates...(probably even faster ..cause if your computer is a little limited in resources the updates will slow it down a little ..
So ..this message is not a pest ..but the windows updating your operation system ..the only issue is when it is in error and takes more than the time it should ...usually it should not take more than a couple of hours for all 55 updates to be installed ...and this in case you have a slow computer...
