old compaq, with full service tag data wow./! 13 years old now. XP right? 2001 to 2007, your PC did not have vista. new. XP is dead, did you know that? then you fail to tell what OS is running, guess what that matters, (we know what it was new but....) if it's XP and or vista is does, XP is dead now for 4 years.+ and worse IE is even more dead, and now banned on many web sites and is an expanding *****. did you go to MX owned skype home page and read the minimum requirement there, first? there are 3 issues here.

1. XP is dead.
2. your XP microphone be died
3. your XP webcam is dead, all very normal now.

You could try codecs (K-Lite free!), or maybe even a different browser. May even be network speed (buffer). Play the video, but pause till it loads, then play.

That has to be a configuration problem. you need to request for configuration settings from your service provider. when the settings is sent and you install it, you start browsing again. thanks

If you have reinstalled Windows then you need to install the Presario device drivers.

Some laptops/Notebooks automatically go to sleep/hibernate when their power level gets too low. Try plugging in an adapter then pressing the power button again while it's plugged in.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads (if applicable) as required.

This is a very common problem and the possible solutions are many, but the most common problem is that the computer is a bit slow for such things as watching videos on the Internet. You could check your performance tab under Task Manager to see how your computer CPU speed is affected while starting videos. Appears that recovery disk #2 is bogus. U can try to get a new set from HP (fat chance!) or you can do a reload from a normal, retail OS disk.

If the fan making a smooth spin, but the noise is too loud, then it means the fan is trying to dissipate the heat. Probably the air inlet and or the air outlet (also the fan itself) is dirty (or clogged) and you need to clean it up using a canned air. You may need to open the case/body if the dust become a dust ball (and you need a tweezer and qtip to pickup the dust ball and clean up the fan blades).
