The function keys on the Sony VAIO Computer is controlled by "VAIO Event Service". The issue may occur if this program is not installed correctly, corrupted or if the Service is missing in the Computer.

It is required to re-install the VAIO Event Service in the Computer to resolve the issue.

You can download and install the VAIO Event Service from the below link.

Download the VAIO Event Service here.

Please click on the "Download Now" button on the page to download the file.
You may save the file on the Desktop.
Then, double click the file to begin the installation.
After that, please restart the Computer for the settings to take the effect.
Re-installing the VAIO Event Service will fix the issue with the function keys.

now that is about the most expensive mistake you can make,theres a good chance youve permenantly broken it and even a repair would be pricey

pls check the memory/ram and also check if the cpu fan is working well.

All the VAIO Computers will be shipped with the Recovery partition in the Hard Drive. If the Hard Drive is not completely formatted, you can access the Recovery partition by pressing the F10 key for 5 to 10 seconds when the VAIO logo appears.

If you're able to access the Recovery partition, then select Restore C Drive option to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
Let me inform you how to check the if Recovery partition is available.

Press windows+R key and type diskmgmt.msc and check if you're able to view EISA partition. If EISA partition is there, then the Recovery partition is available and you can access by pressing the F10 key at start-up.
If the EISA partition is not there, then the partition is deleted, then you can purchase the Recovery Discs for your Computer which may cost $15 to $35.

try doing this

1. disconnect the ac adapter and the battery
2. reseat the RAM or memory if you can. if not, its ok
3. press and hold down the power button for 7-10secs even without the ac adapter and the battery to release static electricity
4. reconnect ac and battery
5. try turning it on

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

Choose the driver for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.


If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ Uninstall iTunes, reboot, & then do a fresh install of iTunes.

have you try uninstalling itunes as the error message suggests?

installing itunes may be a little tricky

i would suggest for you to uninstall every single one of the following application and in this order:

Use the Control Panel to uninstall

1. iTunes
2. QuickTime
3. Apple Software Update
4. Apple Mobile Device Support
5. Bonjour
6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

* if you are unable to uninstall any of the application use this tool
and then download the itunes package and attempt reinstallation

go to the official site(www.sony.com) check the driver and instal it this should solve your problem.

if you have the laptop`s driver CD reinstall it from there using an usb mouse
