Unlocking DVD rom to multi-region TS-L632D
You can change the DVD region four times only, the fourth change will lock on that region permanently.
There may be a firmware upgrade that make your DVD region free, but if you make a mistake or install the wrong firmware upgrade then the DVD will be a piece of junk. You will need to Google search for DVD firmware upgrades for your model DVD.
The best way to view DVDs from other regions is to install a piece of software that defeats the region code. I use a program called DVD-RegionFree from
www.dvdidle.com
There are possibly other programs available, again Google search for them.
BURNING ITUNES MUSIC TO CD
Itunes does have digital rights management, which restricts the number of times you can burn the tracks you've downloaded. It's one reason I prefer sites like mp3fiesta.com who don't believe that if you've paid for the track you should be restricted in using it.
To burn music from Itunes you first have to make a playlist of the tracks you want to burn. Select New Playlist on the left, and drag the tracks you want to burn into this new playlist. When you've done that, right click the playlist name and select "burn playlist to disk."
This will ONLY work a finite number of times (I believe currently it's either 3 or 5) after which burning will be disabled for a track, and if that track appears on a playlist you won't be able to burn that playlist either.
DVD Codec
Windows media player will play very few DVD's on it's own. It needs to work in conjunction with a decoder. You can find a decoder, ie... Power DVD, WinVid, InterVid, etc..., at Dell's support site or filehippo.com. I use Power DVD on mine with no problems. Also, the configuration that you have will not have a noticeable or any effect on videos. They will play fine, once you have a decoder.

Hi,
you were right. There is a hidden partition for recovery purposes when your computer has OEM OS. You can see it by using partition tools such partition wizard home edition and you can download it for free. After you run this program you will see a recovery partition which is hidden from your sight. Hope this will answer your question.

Do you have the correct log in details?
To see if your ethernet connector is functioning, connect from one of the 4 ports behind your router directly to PC ethernet, this way you don't need log in details. If this works, then you need log im details to connect directly.

Dell includes a series of tests for a system's hardware into the BIOS
called the PSA+ Diagnostics. You can run these tests even if the
system lacks any media (hard drive, CD drive, etc.). To launch the PSA+
Diagnostics on this system, perform
one of the following actions:
- Hold down the key while pressing the power button.
- Turn on the system, press at the initial Dellâ„¢ logo screen, and select Diagnostics from the boot menu.
- Disconnect the AC power and remove the battery. While holding down the power button, insert the AC connector
into the back of the system. The system then starts and the message Diagnostic boot selected
displays. The system then launches the PSA+ Diagnostics.
- If all tests pass you will need to re-install the operating system software.
Forgot password
Hi Jill!
Sorry to hear about your password situation! Which password did you forget on your Dell - was it your Windows login password?
Hope to hear back from you soon.
Disk read error preventing startup?
Your hard drive might be damaged. Each time you attempt power it on you risk further damage. If you have valuable information on it you should contact a shop who specializes in data recovery.
My computer is down because of malware and i cannot use it. Please help
Listen, Jennie, the best route for you is to simply reinstall the software that came with your Dell or use the backup disks that you were advised to make. Assuming you made them, all you have to do is go into your bios and make sure that your optical drive (cd or dvd) drive is set as the first boot up device. Then pop in the disk and follow the prompts.
If you did not make the disks or have any Dell disks you may be able to get the software from Dell directly.
OR check among your peers to see who has an XP OS install disk. Use that to install the operating system and then download the necessary drivers from Dell site.

Whatever you do,
resist the impulse to install an OS other than XP - the latter will work best with your machine. NEWER is not better!
Good luck.
