Reset the settings for my 2wire185 on my laptop

You have to go to "Manage Wireless Networks" and delete the network you are trying to connect to. After that you will be able to reconnect without a problem.

Download driver nw230nxt16

What OS is your computer using? Many of the drivers for Nexxt products are available here: http://www.nexxtsolutions.com/us/driver-downloads . Scroll down to the PCI Cards & Adapters to find the nw230nxt16 Download button. The file is a .zip archive. (There are two drivers listed; one is for Vista.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Using vista on compaq cq50

When you try to connect does it ask you for the wireless security for you to be able to connect to wireless network? If YES make sure you have the the wireless security key that you need.

But if you don't have the wireless security see underneath your 2wire device if you can find on a sticker a 10 digit code , try using that to connect.

Can't access 2wire network using netgear adapter

I was also having trouble with my Netgear wireless n USB adapter connecting to my new at@t 2WIRE gateway. The problem was that the netgear software wouldn't allow my computer to stay connected to my 2WIRE gateway and the software wouldn't allow Windows when restarting my computer. I have Windows XP and after hours with at@t support there was no resolution and they gave me Netgear's suport number to call 1-888-638-4327. After 10 min. the problem was fixed. They had me click start icon at bottom left corner then all programs, then highlight "start up" and if you see anything like netgear adapter or netgear start up wizard right click on it and click delete. That was it! rebooted my computer and it connected automatically!!! I'm not very computer knowledgable but I hope this helped

I want to know, what is the rigth wirless computer

Determine the wireless standard that you need. Different wireless routers support different wireless standards such as 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n (most recent). Keep in mind that each of these standards may differ in transmission rate, frequency, bandwidth, or even backwards compatibility.

Like with most computer products, manufacturers advertise wireless routers with an emphasis on speed. After all, more speed is better, right? Well, maybe.
Most broadband customers in the U.S.-and even many other countries-currently have Internet speeds under 10Mbps. In other words, a router promising much faster speeds is not going to make your Web surfing or movie downloads any faster. The router can't go faster than your broadband. For (super lucky) broadband customers with speeds above 30Mbps, you may benefit from enhanced wireless g routers (more on that in a moment) or wireless n, which has adequate overhead to share a connection this fast.
A faster wireless router can increase the speed of your local network, meaning sharing data between your own PCs will benefit-if this is something you do, such as streaming music or video from one device to another inside your home.

The 2700,2701 and 2070 are fine on installation because do,nt rquire any OS.The 100/1000 only support Win XP and MAC.For my selection i choose the 2700.

Also other will be fine for your adapter. The major wireless router manufacturers are Linksys/Cisco, D-Link, and Netgear. You will see these brands dominate in most retail stores. Look for sales because these manufacturers often discount models from week to week and you can sometimes find a good deal for substantially less than $50.

I no longer have the CD for this 2wire wireless

http://support.2wire.com/index.php?page=download

that s the link to the drive you need. Since you cannot get a connection on your computer, you might need to use a friends computer to get the program. Then you can load the driver on a usb stick or burn it to a cd.

Can i use someone elses internet connection to

Yes, you can use any wireless connection, as long as you have access to it. However, you're talking a major degradation in signal vs. an actual ethernet cable. Cable is 100MB per second, wireless is 10 or 54 MB per sec. So yes, you could do that, but chances are you'll be disconnected randomly and you will probably be laggin.

Need a stronger signal for the wireles in our house

Your better off getting a repeater for your wireless and strategically place it in a room where it can amplify to the next and so on. Concrete is virtually impossible to pass through with the signals wireless transmit so a repeater strategically placed is the best way in my opinion.
