Hi there.
If you have brought your machine from a different country and it was working there, then chances are you will need a new power supply that is matched to your countries voltage, most countries have either 240v or 130v, you will have to check into this! be careful however as you can blow the motherboard up if you use the wrong voltage.
My advice would be to purchase another power supply from where you live and install that one.
Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

This website is your best chance for finding a compatible driver for your M42. Please note, however, that if you are attempting to run a newer OS on the system, it may not have driver support available.
I don't know what happened
By your description seems that the power supply does not have the enough power that the system requires. Get a bigger Wattage power supply.
Hi there,
I'm trying to install
right click "my computer" and select "properties" then click on "Hardware", Inside the hardware, select "Device Manager"
Inside the Device Manager, see whether there is a yellow Question mark before the start of any name, If there it will be the driver which either not there or not updated. Right click that driver and the first option will be update Driver. Select it and it will ask you to update automatically, select it and it will search on the internet for the best available driver for your hardware. If there was more yellow Question marks with the items in the Device MAnager, then repeat the same process with all. If ther was no Yellow Question mark, then select "Sound, video and game controllers" and select for the option of sound it in and right click it, and select uninstall driver. Once uninstalled then Inside the control panel, select add new hardware. and follow the steps which come in your way. If no yellow question mark, then once the Device Manager is opened, right click the first thing written inside the box, and the option will come " scan for hardware changes" click it, and u may find something like , Found new Hardeware, and it will start seraching for the drivers automatically using the internet

The best way to disable the onboard VGA is in the bios settings. So find in bios settings the peripherals or the video section and disable the onboard video.

Ibm deskstar model dtla-307015 invalid system
For some reason, the computer isn't able to read the hard drive and Windows isn't being found. If this computer has a floppy disk drive, make sure there's no disk in it. (Some people still use floppies, and the normal setting for systems with floppy drives is to try booting from that drive first. You may have a disk in it that isn't bootable.) Other possible causes are hard drive failure, a virus or other malware program has damaged the drives boot sector, or a motherboard problem. The most likely cause would be the hard drive; as a mechanical device they are more prone to fail than other parts.
Ethernet driver problem - IBM NetVista m42
Once you download the drivers, they are placed in a folder called IBMtools on your root directory C drive. The drivers do not install automatically like most conventional driver downloads. You have to go into the control panel and click on Performance and Maintenance then click on System. When the System Properties window opens click on Hardware, then device manager. The devices for which the driver needs to be installed will have an exclamation point over them. Right click on the device you want to install and click update driver. It will ask you if you want to use windows update to which you can reply NO, especially if you are trying to update the network adapter (in that case you have no internet connection so windows update will not work). Click Next and select the option to Install from a specific location and click next. When that window opens Select the option to search for the best driver in these location. Check the box to Include this location in the search and Click Browse. You should browse to the folder that contains the driver you downloaded. For example most likely it will be C:\IBMTOOLS\Drivers\xxxxxx. xxxx is the name of the file driver you downloaded. Refer back to the IBM site if you forgot the name or click on my computer and navigate to the ibmtools/drivers folders to find it. Once you have the xxxxx replaced just click next and voila it will start installing the driver.

You will enter the CMOS or BIOS setup.
Once there, locate the BOOT SEQUENCE section and allow a USB boot or external component Boot to be placed int he sequence it it MIGHT work.
