If this is a laptop failure (not a PC) then its a problem with either the graphics chip or the LCD panel. Connect the laptop to an external monitor and if that works fine, take your laptop to the local computer repair shop to get the screen replaced.

Do you mean that it's logging off of windows? Or it won't boot to windows?

That probably means your battery is bad. I would suggest buying a new one off of amazon. I'm personally not a big fan of e-bay.

These laptops are notorious for developing battery issues. We've got one at our house that would basically be a paperweight without a charger and external monitior. The best fix for this is to buy a new battery.

I would like to have more info, but, you can try these steps. After each step try keyboard for operational. 1-remove battery, open pc and hold power button for 10-15 seconds. This resets system board. Replace battery and restart. 2-restart pc clicking F2 key to access BIOS, choose default settings, restart. 3-remove battery, with plastic flat scribe pry top of keyboard down and up from casing, disconnect ribbon cable, remove keyboard, clean keyboard thoroughly under keys. Replace in reverse order. 4-replace keyboard. Free if under warranty. Less than $100 if not.

Hey Roger, Below is information that should help you with trying to get monitor and notebook screen to work. First make sure your laptop is equipped to be able to connect a secondary display, there should be a port for connecting a standard monitor cable on the back. Connect your secondary monitor and reboot the laptop, the system bios should recognize that a second monitor has been added. Then right click on your desktop and bring up the display properties dialog box. Select "settings" Your laptop should be identified as monitor 1 and you should also be able to see the secondary monitor as monitor 2. Click on the secondary monitor and check the box that says "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". Set your screen resolution and color quality for the second monitor and click apply. Try to start computer in safe mode, usually can be done by pressing F8 during the startup. From safe mode, you can check event viewer and see what kind of errors there are under system.

For reseting BIOS, you should first try to remove CMOS battery. Put it back and BIOS reset is done. For location of CMOS battery, check laptop manual. But first, you could try to perform factory reset on BIOS. You can access BIOS by pressing F2 during startup.

there is a short circuit onnthe laptop motherboard usually it's power ic's that are next to the power socket that block the power from going to other parts so you should change those ic's

Video chip problem. Most of the times, it happens when your video chip is almost gone or is dying. I will suggest back up your documents, pics and when it is totally gone then you have to ge thelp from local computer store.
