Scan doesn't work on Acer AL2671W

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

No power on tv

Check its main power regulator board. It might need replacement. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electric shock. Instead, contact any experienced service technician, or the nearest service center.

Acer AL2671W wont turn on

Sounds like a problem with the power supply board, typically power surges will cause fuses and capacitors to blow. If you go to tvrepairkits .com you can find a power supply kit with instructions that will allow you to repair this problem yourself. They also have coiled solder which works really well...hope this helps.

Acer AL2671W stuck in standby

This too was my problem... ended up googling my heart out trying to find the solution to this problem and found a blog posting

"AL2671W Stuck in Standby Hey - I fixed a TV! It' s been a long time actually since I did something useful for someone. I got asked to look at an Acer AL2671W LCD TV. Bought for about £500 five years ago, and that was cheap then, recently it has regularly refused to come out of standby. Now it is stuck in Standby and won't work. So where do you start? Google of course! Some results showed that this was a common fault on these TV's. One guy in a forum said 'easy fix, replace C280 100uF 16V on the main board'. Good enough of a clue to take a look. You have to firstly remove the SCART socket block before the back will come off and then the inner metal cover over the PSU, audio card and main card as mentioned before. It looks just like a mini ATX card. It is a multi layer, double sided PEC with surface mount and traditional components. Bad news though, no C280 to be found. I buzzed through the front power switch to check it wasn't stuck and traced the cabling to the socket on the main board. Very close by the socket is C380, this is an electrolytic 100uF 16V. Too much of a coincidence? Anyway worth a punt I thought so I changed it for an 100uF 40V I think it was and re-assembled the TV. It worked! the TV now comes out of standby and has been returned to its owners. Result! Posted by andychamb"

I end up finding an old ATI card (since it was unsupported with win7) that had the same value capacitor and replaced C380, located around the centre, bottom left corner (the left one). works like a dream.

I have an Acer AL2671W

Hi Oliver,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. This was caused by leaky/dried electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit.It needs a little warm-up to make itself stable but the symptom will get worst. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Your unit will back to normal again if the leaky capacitor is isolated.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.
