Magenta Ink Cartridge Has Expired, showing this
If you only just purchased your cartridge I would suggest you return the cartridge for an exchange. Unfortunatelty when a cartridge has expired the date is set inside the cartridges chip and so far I have not come up with a way to get around it. You will need to replace the cartridge with a new one.

My HP 1000 Photo Smart is not printing in color.
I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Welcome to Fixya Expert zone
When the printer periodically makes humming and buzzing sounds as the carriage assembly moves around on the right side of the printer, the printer is actually cleaning the ink cartridges. This is a normal operation for the printer.
Sometimes intermittent noises from the printer can be caused by the drive belt slipping over the gears. Clean and lubricat the bar with some silicon lubricant such as WD40 by spraying it on a paper towel and running it across the bar two or three times.
I think it solves your problem. If you have any problem regarding this issue leave a comment or feedback,we were happy to assist you.
