I have a Kenmore Calypso

Hi

First make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the bottom of the unit, after this test the lid switch assembly, you jump it to test it. If the lid switch is also fine then the control board should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

While in the rinse cycle, my Whirlpool Calypso

You need to change the computer board this is a common problem in the circuit board they now make the board with up graded circuits, I had to replace mine thats how i know about the up grade It's well worth the money. When I was having the trouble with ours no one knew what was wrong I even took it to a shop and they could not fix it they still charged me for the repair so i bought a used washer un-till i could order the parts my self , recieved the new board installed it and now works better than when it was new, my wife is very happy with it .

Had the water pump replaced

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
From your description it COULD be that it is struggling with drainage.

If your particular model has a filter (and not all do have) I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter- so many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters.
Following are my complete and hopefully 'coverall' pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Pump Problem with Calypso. I

FL Flood Condition FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

I have standing water in

On that Calypso their is going to be some lint build up in the drain buildup in the drain pump causing it not to drain. If you set the drain/spin cycle about 20 times eventually the water should drain. Thier is no real way to get the water out without bailing it or vacuuming it out. When all the water finally out can take apart draim pump and remove lint build up.

I had OB error code.

Hi there this is the Out of Balance Error code and can be a few things.
If its happened just the once don't worry about it - probably just a heavy uneven load.
If it happens again or repeatedly adjust the clothes in the drum and restart if it keeps happening then check that the unit is draining and that the drain hose is not clogged.
If everything is draining and the washer does this when empty you are going to have to start replacing parts so probably best to get someone in to have a look.

You can do a drain test yourself - Make sure there is water in the Washer then press (within 5 seconds so quite quickly)
Set Delay Time End of Cycle Signal Set Delay Time End of Cycle Signal
Display should read "dt"
then Press Jeans/Colors so display reads "t4"
Drain Test should commence

Describe your Calypso GVW9959K Top

The drain hose might been pinched or cut causing the leak but with regard to the whining noise, tub not draining, and the "Ld" error code, these symptoms indicate a problem with the drain pump. When the load starts, the pump also starts working in the recirculation direction (counterclockwise as viewed from underneath the washer) and the noise is produced by a restricted or damaged drain pump impeller. Consequently, the wash water cannot be recirculated (nor drained) prompting the machine to stop.

Drain the machine manually then lay its front on a padded floor. Remove the bottom drip pan by removing the securing screws to access the drain pump at the bottom of the machine. Check the drain pump assembly and replace it if deemed necessary.

The "ob" code stands for an out of balance condition as manifested by the wash plate (agitator) being "lopsided". The machine controller will shut down and display an "ob" for off balance when it detects an unrecoverable off-balance condition. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display open the lid at least once before restarting the cycle. Opening the lid also allows the customer to view and redistribute the load if necessary. The wash plate may need to be remove if the "ob" code persist to check for any garment, usually the small one such as socks, probably caught under it.

Whirlpool Calypso washer with Sr

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.

"Sr" signifies a failure of the relay in the closed position. With this failure, power to the motor controller cannot be turned off by the machine controller.
The machine control board may have a bad relay and may need to be replaced. Check pins 1 and 5 of P16 of the machine controller and pins 1 and 2 of P1 of the motor controller. This should have AC line voltage when the motor controller is powered.Chances are it needs a machine control.

No power to my wirlpool

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry but with such a fault it is extremely difficult for anybody on this forum to remotely guess what is wrong with your washer. It could be internal wiring/plugs sockets, control panel switches, control PCB.
I fear that your only real option is a service call as the engineer will have the right equipment to safely diagnose what is wrong.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have a calypso washer

Sometimes the inner agitator cover will crack open. I wonder if that is the case with your washer. You need to inspect.use a flat blade to pop off the top and then remove the bolt and get the agitator out:
themobilian_2605.jpg
If you do decide you will want to replace the inner agitator gasket you will need a new one ready.

Check and see if this inner agitator is shot. If it is then oil will get on the clothes.

Initially, the machine was leaking

sounds like you need a new u joint. The ujoint is a very difficult thing to replace. overtime the unjoint usually gets corroded and it joins itself to the shaft of the washer. This makes it very difficult to get off. It is also easier to do if you have the special tools needed to take that machine apart. If you still want to do it, here is the part number 8299753. It will cost you around 200 for the part.
