Teac FD-05PUB External Floppy Drive Questions & Answers
How to open Teac FD-05PUB?
There are two small black phillips screws near where the cable is, take those out. The opposite side from the screws is the cover, it pries off. You can work a flat tip screwdriver in there and see if you can pop it off without damage. Start on the sides. If you're having trouble with that you can remove the rubber piece going around the outside first. I started where the floppy opening is, you can pry it out with a small flat tip screwdriver then just pull it out. Do the same for both sides of floppy opening. Then you'll have to take the phillips screw by the motor to remove the drive from the case. There is another small phillips screw holding the cover, remove that and you can work the cover off. Now you can clean the heads. To put it back together screw the drive cover back on, then screw it back into the case. Put the rubber piece in, then push the top cover back down till it snaps in. Then put the black screws back.

Hi,
The below is on the basis that the drive is visible in "Computer"...
This can be tow thing, one the drive is not receiving enough power from your USB port, try unplugging any addtional USB devices connected to the PC, if this doesn't work try a powered USB hub. Second the floppy disk is faulty or the drive itself is faulty.
Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
Thanks
We have a TEAC FD-05PUB
The USB Floppy Drive shouldn't require drivers under Windows XP (according to TEAC, here: http://goo.gl/BvTcV).
Make sure your Windows XP installation is completely up to date, as Windows Updates often contain driver updates as well as system updates. If this still doesn't work (or your system is already completely updated), there are some additional troubleshooting options here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283658.
I own the TEAC FD-05PUB.

Stupid question: are you trying to use a PC floppy drive to read PC floppy disks on a Mac? I don't think this kind of operation would have a positive outcome....
