Whirlpool electric range ygy398lxpq00.

sounds like the touch pad is bad from what you're discribing,i looked up your model on the sears site and it looks like the whole front panel comes all together, part number W10122300 and it's around 230.00 dollars.you can call your parts store and see if you can just get the touch pad and hopefully you can.i've seen this happen before, the start button is pushed alot of times and it can damage the touch pad by pressing it to hard or just from using it alot of times.http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Touchpad-and-Control-Panel/W10122300/1372156 copy and paste this, this is the repair clinic,if you buy a part from them and it doesn't fix your problem they will take it back no matter what part it is and i think it's free shipping.it's a good thing to know when the parts are so expensive, also here's the sears site so you can look up your machine.good luck with it.http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Whirlpool-Parts/Range-Parts/Model-YGY398LXPQ00/1198/0124160/W0703148/00002?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=YGY398LXPQ00

All the functions works well, but after a few

Hello,

The F2 error code means that the over overheated by at least 100 degrees above the tempature that was set at the time. The usual reason the oven would over heat by so much is a defective oven tempature sensor and the sensor would need to be tested to see if is the problem to test the sensor it would need to disconnected from the wiring to it and measure the amount of ohms of resistiance AT ROOM TEMPATURE when the oven is off and cool. At room temp. the the meter used to check the sensor should display between 1060-1100 ohms,if the number is vastly different that 1060-1100 at room tempature the sensor is defiently bad and should be replaced. This is what the sensor looks like oldtech2332_129.jpg
it will be inside of the oven chamber and again to properly check it the wiring should be unplugged and the meter leads should be placed into the plug at the end of the sensor to measure the ohms

I TURN ON THE BURNERS ON OUR ELECTRIC STOVE AND

Hello,

If your electric stove turns on but does not get hot, then it means there is a problem somewhere on the control unit of the stove. the most likely problem is the thermostat regulator. you need to check the thermostat regulator of the stove. once the thermostat regulator is bad it will turn on but will not get hot.

Check the thermostat of the oven.

Hope this was helpful, if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach me here on fixya.

Goodluck,

First, you need to check the 2 circuit breakers. One goes to the control board and the other one goes to the heating elements. If the heating elements still do not work, you would need to check them for continuity.

After self cleaning oven no longer heats up

Sometimes the only way to solve this problem is to contact me or another Whirlpool Technician. Reason being Whirlpool has taken a very strict course of action when people post Whirlpool manuals here or the public on-line. I also have 5 days a week that I can contact Whirlpool if the question is a hard to solve answer. This is rare. The problem you are having is related to possibly your door lock or thermal fuse and once self cleaning begins you are having a fault that turns the power off and can only be resolved by doing a series of diagnostics. Click here and this page will explain=> RBS275PD Electric Single Oven fault Resolution.jpg I will be happy to assist you (should it come to that) and others here at Fixya. Click=> Here and fill out the capsha. after I saw your post I pulled the service manual to see if there by chance was a one answer solution and it appears that you will need to follow the instructions if you request I will send. We all love those easy answers and this will be much easier one on one, Thank You and thanks for choosing Fixya, Sea Breeze

Cleaned my oven now the temp. will not go above

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This indicates an open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
