Burners won't ignite
Check your gas connection first. Check if the ignition is actually sparking.

From door on range came off when I tried to lift
Normally you force the hinges open and there will be a small hole to stick a nail in to keep them open. It is VERY hard to install the door if the hinges are trying to close it. You hold the hinges out with the nail while you install the door, then release the hinges to close by removing the nails.

Thermador SM272 - Oven not heating after self clean cycle
Your repairman might be right but I would have checked the main heating element first for this reason:
The self-clean cycle uses that same element as you need for the oven but is allowed to rise to a much higher temperature (~ 900-950 degrees) during the cleaning cycle and it may have self-destructed.
Since your problem started after the cleaning cycle, I would have checked the element for continuity first.
