Sirius Sportster 4 SP4-TK1 Satellite Radio Receiver with Car Kit - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Connect sirius fm adapter to 2008 honda civic sedan radio
You should use the direct FM box to get the static to go away. You unplug the antenna from the radio, plug the antenna lead from the box into the radio, the antenna line plugs into the box. You will have a mini jack that plugs into your radio or dock.
This way you can switch it on any station to get rid of the static.
You shouldn't need to take the dashboard out to get to the radio. Usually you have to take the trim pieces in front of the radio to get the antenna line out.
Sometime you can reach it from the back of the radio if there is enough clearance to get cak there.
Broken Sportster 4
I'm afraid those things are throw away items. They cost more to repair than they cost to get a new one.
You can get a new dock and remove the piece off the Sportster yourself.
Acquiring signal only on display
If under warranty get a replacement. If not, you are beat, they are dead when they stop getting signal and you have tried different antenna. It's sad but true.
Sportster 4 - FM Transmitter
It is supposed to be there. I have also never heard of this, but it sounds like some of the software is missing. Try a reset to factory default, and if it does not show up, accept the reconditioned unit. After all, if u send yours in to be fixed, it is now a reconditioned unit anyways. If it has been less than 30 days, you can return it for a full refund to wherever u purchased it from, and then start all over again buying a new unit. But the reconditioned units have the same warranty as a new one. So if it's past 30 days, might as well accept it.

Dick,
Did u go to the menu to get the Sirius ID# or ESN# or did u get it from the box or back of the unit itself?? I used to work in activations department for sirius and the most common reason that a plug and play unit would not activate is a mismatch in ID #'s. I have seen units with one ID number, but the box or the back of the radio actually being labeled with a different number. By the way, only one signal can be sent to the radio every 20 minutes or so and most reps you talk to don't even know this. So after sending the first signal, all they are doing is clicking a button on the screen and getting a message back that says "Duplicate Provision" meaning that the signal cannot be sent because it is already sent. If you were hearing audio on channel 184 when the signal was sent and you made no adjustments during this time, and the SID or ESN number is the correct one for your unit, and the radio doesn't activate, I would get a replacement. But this never happens in my experience unless there are other signs of defect.
Hope this helps!!
Sirius radio
Cliff, If you mean a schematic then u are going to have a tough time finding that. It is manufactured by Directed Electronics, so you might try to contact them, but they might not be willing to divulge that info.
Good luck!
Only on/off chimes come through radio
The input source is controlled by contacts in the actual input on the side of the radio. It sounds like the contact for an aux connection is stuck closed. The contacts need to be separated, and probably the only way to do this is to disassemble the radio. If it is under warranty (less than a year old), I would suggest calling SIRIUS warranty for a replacement. If not, and you don't feel comfortable taking the unit apart, find someone who is because the unit is most likely salvageable!
Cracked display
Sure, you can do this if you have great soldering skills. The contacts are very small and requiring precision soldering, but a successful soldering job would make for a successful repair. There is nothing specific about the displays so any display from a sportster 4 would work on any other. Have a great day!
Sportster 4 not working...
I had the same issue. This is what Sirius calls a "Frozen Unit". There is no bypass, unfortunately, and it must be returned.
I had mine for 3 days and it froze on the Sirius Logo screen when booting up. If you bought the unit from Sirius, you must contact their E-Commerce department. If bought from a retailer, take it back to the store.
Sorry, mate.
Getting to my radio's antenna plug
Depends on the radio but with most models when you bought it new you would have gotten two flat strips pieces of metal which should be inserted left and right between the radio and the radio bay. They will push aside the spring locks and then you can gently pull it out.

FM Modulator
I haven't found any ways that work. A better option is to use this device http://www.xm-sirius-satellite-radio.com/SIRIUS_FM_Direct_Adapter_p/fmda25.htm to make a direct connection into your radio's antenna plug. This adapter allows your satellite radio to provide clear, static-free sound. It can be difficult to install, however, depending on how hard it is to get to the back of your vehicle's radio.
I have a Sirius Starmate ST2. It's stuck on 0% updating. Any suggestions? Antenna placement a d connection seems fine
Hard Reset:
Sometimes a hard reset can help. You can do this by pulling the fuse related to the Sirius system, letting it sit for a couple of minutes, and then putting it back in. Afterward, start the car, perform the Sync maintenance update, shut the car off, and then turn it back on.
If you're unsure about which fuse to pull, consult your vehicle's manual or seek professional assistance. But thee following may help. Behind the glovebox. There's 2 15amp fuses on the top-righthand side. It'll be the left one of those two.
Refresh the Signal:
Visit the SiriusXM signal refresh page and follow the instructions to refresh your SiriusXM signal. Note that you may need to select a specific channel during this process, but if the system is stuck, this might be challenging..
Check for Memory Leaks:
After disconnecting the battery, you mentioned that radio stations displayed their real frequency instead of "403" or incorrect frequencies. This suggests that there might be memory leaks in the Windows CE and Entertainment applications. Keep an eye on this behavior and consider reporting it to SiriusXM or seeking further technical support.
Remember that these steps are general troubleshooting suggestions,
HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT SIRIUS XM ACCOUNT I AM BEING CHARGED FOR?
First look on your credit card statement. If that doesn’t help then get the ID from your Sirius device and compare to statement. Lastly call them with the ID. If you have multiple Devices, then any device that can receive channels is being billed somewhere....
