Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any truly 'universal' remotes and we have two that won't 'learn' from the originals either. They should be called 'multibrand' remotes.

Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

1. Hold on TV and POWER simultaneously (light comes on), let go

2. Press POWER then CH+ back and forth (light comes on), when TV turns off

You need the sheet that came with the remote. If the manufacturer's codes do not work with your ??, then you need a more modern remote. The codes must ALREADY be in the remote to be used. The code is part of the REMOTE.

Please check & ensure the infrared is emiting from the remote control. Though we cant see this infared beam with bare eyes, i found a trick to do so in http://www.unique-stuff.co.cc/fixing_remote_control_check_infrared.html Replace the batteries when the infrared beam has weakened. If no infrared emited at all, then the electronic board should be replaced.
