Out of ink, but can't scan?
Hi Scratchpatch,
My husband and I have just had the same problem. If you make sure all the ink cartridges are still in there, empty or not, and then press the Stop/Reset/Cancel button for 5 seconds it will take you back on to the main menu. this button is located in the middleish right of the button pad and is the only red coloured button on there. I hope this helps!!!
The PGBK black will not print on my Pixma MP600.
I have the same issue. I've replaced the PGBK cartridge, but the old one is completely full so it's not printing from that cartridge at all. I also cleaned the print head and deep cleaned, etc. The big black cartridge function is to print normal text and the small black one works with photo printing and graphics. I select High-Resolution Paper and that gets the printer to print text using the small black cartridge but this is only a workaround. Yes, the auto head allign. won't work because the MP600 won't detect ink from the PGBK cartridge on the test print. Possibly I have a bad print head again (the 2nd one is in there now) or I have some electronic issues with the printer. Getting a new print head would be the simplest choice, assuming it's actually bad. I think they're about $50 retail, and may be worth the effort to replace it. If the PGBK starts working again ... hoo ray! If the PGBK is still not printing ... the MP600 would not be worth fixing, I'll bet. :c(
What does error 5100 mean?
This means that the Movement of the Print Head Holder is blocked. To remedy this carefully check the printer and clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Print Head Holder from moving. With the power off the Head Holder should be able to be moved gently by hand. Cancel printing from your computer, then turn off the machine, and turn it back on again.
