Yeah, that's fan which stuck in "on" state. However the root cause is in a control board.

There is an internal fuse but if you still have power on the display then likely the main transformer has failed and the cost to repair will likely exceed a replacement.

If you do not want to get the newer model due to configuration changes it does not appear that you have another alternative other than to replace the logic board on unit. And unless you can spot a very obvious issue with the board, there is no way for you to fix it especially if it is a bad ic with beaucoup connections to the board.

These above range microwaves "hoods" automatically turn on a cooling fan even when the microwave is not in use. If you read the manuals you will see warnings about the fans automatically starting. Even when the microwave is not in use opening the door likely interrupts the power to the automatic cooling fan.
