Mapping of D-link DNS-323 drive doesn't succeed.

I had the same problem when I was attempting to map the drive using the hostname of the DNS-323. I solved the problem by typing in the IP address instead. Do the following:

1. Login to the DNS-323 as admin
2. Make sure you use static IP's to make sure that the address does not change in the future.
3. Go to the drive mapping page and use IP address instead of hostname in the drive mapping (e.g. \\192.168.1.1\Volume_1)
4. Make sure you use a valid username and password.
5. Check the connection configuration by clicking on the Test button.

You should get a successful outcome, otherwise check all the settings again until you are successful

Forgot my Login anyway around that?

The best thing to do is to install a bare fun_plug with telnet capability. If you do not know where this is, one version is available at http://www.inreto.de/dns323/fun_plug. Just follow the instructions in the README file for the latest version.

Restart your DNS-323. Once it starts back up, do the following:

1. Login to your device using telnet. Most OS have this or you can use a free downloadable client like putty
2. You will be faced with a Linux # prompt. From here you can change the password of admin by typing:
# passwd admin
3. After changing the admin password, exit from putty and try logging in to your device via a browser'

You should be able to login using the new password

Ftp and upnp problems with dns-323

Try to do the following:

1. Login to your DNS-323 in the same network
2. Make sure FTP is turned on and a user is configured to perform FTP to it
3. Ftp to your DNS-323 using the admin account

If this still does not work, read up on Fonz's fun_plug application and install it. This should let you access the linux firmware in the 323 for troubleshooting. Be aware that you need to know linux before you attempt to do this as you may brick your 323 if you are not careful.

Difficulty printing to DNS 323 attached printer

Try going into Kaspersky, settings, firewall, and then select the network tab. Under the local network tab you may find the security is set too high, and this is what is blocking the print run. Settings from high to low are Public > Local > Trusted. Change the security setting down for your LAN the printer is on to Local, or trusted if you know what you are doing. Worked for me. I had similar problem - printing worked, then installed Kaspersky on all machines and printing became erratic on wife's laptop.I had different settings on the wife's network settings for her wireless and wired LAN, and I think the erratic behaviour came from fact that one of them was public, and one local. Changed down and all was fixed.

I try to connect DLINK dns 323 to WD TV by USB

The USB port on the D-Link DNS 323 NAS is for a printer only. It won't work with your WD TV. Your best bet would be to plug the WD TV into a PC that is connected to your network along with the D-Link DNS 323 NAS and serve your media files that way.
