Can't get audio from the

Hi, Bucky!

I believe I know where to go to get the proper drivers for you so that the sound works again.

I have had to do this myself a couple of times, both times after uninstalling games I had on my computer.

You need to go to RealTek's website.

Here is a link to the website.
www.realtek.com/

Once you get to the website, on the right side you'll see where it says quick links.
Click the one for H.D. audio codecs driver
This brings you to an acknowledgement page .
Check the the box, and then click on next.
I suggest that you chose an executable version of the file, that way you don't have to deal with where the zip file went to, or how to extract the files.
The executable version have an installer built-in so all you have to do is launch it, like any other program.
Then just follow the instructions and install it.
After installation, reboot your computer and your audio should now be working as it is supposed to.
Make sure that you download the file for the right operating system.
The one for xp will NOT work on vista or windows 7.

I hope this helps you out, and that your sounds works after you do this.
Good luck to you, and have a good day !

My Lenovo T61 is not

Hi,

ThinkPad computers have what we call the service partition, which can set the computer back to its factory stated even without the recovery disc. The service partition can be accessed by pressing the Access ThinkPad or Access IBM button during start up.

Prior to performing a software recovery, Lenovo recommends returning your system to it's original factory configuration by removing all hardware that has been added to your system.
When the system first starts, the following message will be displayed on a blank screen:

To start the Product Recovery program, press F11

This message will stay on the screen for approximately 2 seconds, and it will be there every time the machine is started from a powered off state. If the F11 key is pressed while the message is displayed, then the system will enter the Service partition.

Select Full Recovery to get rid of the viruses. Wait for it to complete and your computer will be back to when it was fresh as new.

Thank you for visiting FixYa! a 4 thumbs up if this helped will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Is the virus gone from your pc? I suggest you to install some nice antivirus software like Bit defender and run a full pc scan. The virus might still be on your pc blocking the internet explorer from loading websites.
If this doesn't help then try reseting the router to factory defaults and set up a new security key on the router. Make sure you update the new key on your laptop as well. If you can provide me with the routers model no. i can give you the factory reset instructions.

If you have any more questions please let me know.

Thank you!

I am a novice and

Hmm.. this is going to be a process that can take some time.

At one point, everyone was a novice, so we can all appreciate where you're at. Your first step is going to be reading. Lots of reading. One of the first things you'll need to learn is the mechanics of your notebook / laptop PC. You can view the manual for it, here. All of this reading is going to generate questions. Lots of questions. The best places for answers will be in forums or sites that are dedicated to people that have a common bond - in your case, Lenovo notebooks. A forum for Lenovo PCs can be found here. There are other sites dealing with Lenovo PCs, too. A list of those can be found here. Due to the large number of people on these sites, you will be able to get the fastest and probably some of the most reliable feedback and answers on those types of sites.

Once you begin to understand the PC, the next hurdle will be learning the OS or "Operating System". Most likely, you've got some version of Windows on installed, but you may have a flavor of Linux or something else completely on it instead. You should google the OS and help, tips or manual for examples. Then, look for OS forums in google like this. Here again, asking questions in forums where the users all share a common bond (your particular OS in this case) will give your question the greatest exposure for a speedy reply.

You will find an incredible number of books written to help people understand their OS in libraries, online and book stores. You will find books on common, mainstream PCs too - and your IBM T61 is probably not an exception unless it is an older PC (I haven't followed the Thinkpad line), but online will be your best bet for anything that is no longer current.

This answer is pretty short for the amount of work that lies ahead of you - but if you stick with it - you'll learn a great deal and might even have some fun while you're at it. Good luck! Please rate my reply - thanks.

How to download lan driver

The same model ThinkPadcan have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless youknow exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download allthe drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download thedrivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a recordof which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files arelocated on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEBsite - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers foryour model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true You can download thevarious drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, theywill then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install thevarious drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

The laptop screen is unreadable

Your backlight or inverter has gone bad. You can purchase a new inverter or backlight on ebay (if you are mechanically inclined and know which is broken) or call Lenovo support to see how much their repair service will cost. The LCD screen is still working since you mentioned that you can still barely make out the screen.

Hi, I turn on my t61p and it gives a long the two

AWARD BIOS beep codes
1 Long, then 2 Short Beeps: Video error

Explanation: The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen.

Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.

Do check your RAM(memory) too. If your RAM is overheating (ie. faulty) you can get this error too.

Hope it helps.

When I boot up my

Most likely the hard disk has just died - try to access the BIOS and see if it's still recognized. For that ress the blue ThinkVantage button when the message "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button " is displayed and then select Start setup utility .
If nothing appears on the screen then the defect is in the motherboard - you will need to take it to a service center to determine if the board must be replaced.
