Western Digital Elements powered by WD 320 GB External USB (WDE1U3200N) Hard Drive - Page 2 Questions & Answers
My elements wd5000E035-00 does nothing
Hi s aarden,
I'm assuming this drive is connected via USB to your PC.
I Would try downloading the newest drivers from the Wester Digital website (if there are any).
Has this drive ever been recognized and/or functioning properly on this current PC?
If so, the first action I would take would be to check the state of your USB Drivers. Click Start> RIGHT-Click My Computer> Select "Manage" or "Device Manager."
Scroll down to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers." Are there any yellow or caution icons next to any items under this category?
File system error 65535
I would suggest you to run a SFC scan on the computer.
1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click
All Programs, click Accessories, right-click
Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click
Allow. The access the drive by typing command for example - if you are facing trouble in C drive type C:
2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

POwer supply failure
Hi John,
Had the same problem with a WD Elements 320 GB drive, and found a WD customer service number. They are sending me a FREE replacement. I have put the details on a message somewhere on this site, but can't direct you to it.
The number from Australia is
: 1800 429 861 ( routed to Singapore )
Email Address : Western Digital Customer Service . [email protected]
Send them details of your mailing address, drive model and serial number, and a description of your power supply. ( my power supply had a model number moulded on the back )
Hope this helps
