Unable to locate water filter cartridge

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling in

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned WARMER WHICH MAKES THE REF COLDER AND VICE-VERSA. SEE?
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
But is probably a common defrost problem The ice build up
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

I have a one year old Whirlpool side by side refrigerator model # ED5PVEXWS that has intermittent water leaks on the bottom of the fridge lately. Can someone help as to how I can fix it myself (60 yrs

hi,it sounds like you have a blocked drain in the freezer.the evapoator coil freezes up,then the machine goes into defrost,a heater comes on and melts the ice off of the coil, the melted water goes down a drain line that drains into the back near the compressor and condenser coil where it will evaporate in a pan.your drain line sounds like it's blocked and has to be cleared.if you open the freezer, remove the bottom bin if it isn't frozen in with ice and if the freezer floor has ice on it the drain is blocked.if this is what you have shut down the machine with the controls or unplug it,remove the food and bottom bins, look at the bottom back wall,if you can see the drain hole and have enough room to stick a turkey baster into it you don't have to do anything else,if you can't see it you have to remove a few more shelves and food so you can remove the inside back wall to get at the drain hole.melt out all the ice with a hair dryer, you might be there for 10 to 20 minutes or a little longer depending on how much ice is there, when the drain hole looks free of ice pour a cup of hot water into the hole,if the water drains you're done,if it doesn't get the turkey baster and stick it into the hole and pump it a few times to see if the water will drain down, also you can pull the fridge away from the wall, unplug it and remove the bottom back panel,on the right hand side usually this is where the drain line is,if you see water in the pan where the end of the drain line is you know the water is passing through the drain tube.also while you're there get a vac and clean out any dust you see.i use a steemer to clean out the drain,it works great.hope this helps and good luck.also if there's alot of ice on the freezer floor you can tap it easy with a hammer or any tool and crack it out and use a putty knife to help get the rest up or if you want just melt it all with the hair dryer.

The bin on my ice maker forms big chunks of ice

check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice, OR cause the thaw-freeze cycle resulting in chunks. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

Whirlpool Gold Ice dispenser problem

i had same exact problem, i search over and over for solution. I even change the auger moter.

here is the solution for this particular problem.....

with the fridge door closed, remove bottom catch tray under ice dispenser revealing two screws, take off screws and slide front trim up to remove, you will have to unplug switch on trim to fully remove, look in top right corner there is black switch the will most likely be loose, this switch is your problem, mine was basically dislodged and the ice dispenser lever was not making contact, i simply zipped tied and siliconed the switch back to its respective place. if yours is making a good connection then the switch its self must be bad, you can test the switch by using the switch from water dispenser side...

i hope this helps

Key pad not operating

Post your model number. Try taking the cover off of the hinge on the top of the freezer door and checking that the plug is firmly pressed together. If that does not help send model number so I can look over what model you have and other possibilities....Sea Breeze

Bad Water Taste from Refrigerator

first off do you have a copper line to your unit or just plastic? I have seen this type of problem before and what it was the customer used the wrong type of water line for the inlet to the refrigerator. Also there are some excellent filters out there that do not have to be put inside of the refrigerator and can go on the inlet line to take away all the nasty impurity's and odors in the water before it ever gets to your rfrigereator. So remember use copper =or a approved water inlet line that is made of a usda hygenic plastic and use a high quality foilter in line before the unit and your water problems should be taken care of. Also the typer of filters with a activated carbon agent and removes all the heavy particles in the water are usually cheaper then the one's made just for the refrigerator's model inside. and if you bypass the filter inside you also prevent the problems some other people have experenced with this set up where the water freezes in the filter and thats no good. Please rate the answer if you could please and have a great day and a Happy New Year.
