Here is the problem, what most of the people do with this LG HBM 550 is press the PWR/END button on the headsent and when the headset light turn on Blue they let the button go and try to pair the device, this is worng when light is flshing Blue only it is not in the pairing mode.
You need to press and hold the button on the head set for five second and when the light flicker red and blue alternately, now device is in the paring mode.
Using you phone when to pair this device it might ask, depending on you r phone setting for the PIN or pass code which will be "0000"

Well my user manual for HBM-550 says:

Prior to using the Headset for the first time, you must pair it with a Bluetooth enabled handset.
With the HBM-550 off, press and hold the Pwr/End button for 5 seconds,
You will hear two short beeps and the LED indicator will flicker in red and blue alternately, when the divice enters Paring Mode.

Using your Handset, find the Bluetooth Menu and "search for" or "add" new devices.
Select "LG HBM-550" from the list of devices and pair it with your handset.
When asked for the pass/PIN code during the paring procedure, please enter "0000" (4zeros).
Once paring has completed successfully, you will hear a beep.
After paring successfully, be sure to "Connect" to the HBM-550.
If you want to pair with other devices in the future, the headset must be placed in pairing Mode.
If the HBM 550 is in "Paring Mode" for 3 minutes, without being paired to a device, the Headset will automatically turn off.

My iphone 4 was asking for my pin number using LG-HBM 900, I used 0000 and it paired okay.

If you have followed the directions with the manual. And have exhausted all direction from the manual. I'm sorry but i would return it.

hold the button on the headset until it is on paring mode, then let your phone search for it. when it is found it will ask for the password it should be 0000 i you haven't changed it

often the default pin is 0000 e.g. 4 zeros. i think this is the same for this device.

Most use a basic default PIN such as “0000”, “1111”, or “1234”.

With your headset intitially turned off, press and hold the PWR/END button for some 5 seconds, until the indicator light flashes alternately in red and blue. It is now in pairing mode. Then, on your phone go to 'Menu > Settings and Connectivity > Bluetooth > Options > New paired device'. After a little while, your headset should appear.on the phone screen. Select it, and enter '0000' (four zeros) as passkey. Once the paring procedure is complete, your headset should enter the stand-by mode. You just have to pair any two bluetooth enabled devices once. All subsequent connections should be done provided that both devices are close enough to each other.

If you look in the manual in the link give by jeffsgirl903 it says "When asked for the Pass/PIN code during the pairing procedure,
please enter “0000” (4Zeros)."

The passkey is 0000 (Four Zeros)

YES IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE PAIRED TO AS MANY PHONES AS YOU WANT BUT WILL ONLY WORK ON ONE AT A TIME.
