Is there an ice maker in the freezer? Check it. There could be a leak there. Check the defrost tube. When the freezer goes into defrost, the water has to exit the box through a tube, of some sort.

your evaporator motor may be going bad also check to see if your condensing unit and fan motor are clean this can cause similar problems.

Ok unplug your box. go to the dispenser remove the tray. Now pull down on the bottom cover. this will unlock the cover. Right behind the cover is a plastic swtich holder. You have a broken pin that holds the swtich. replace this and you will back in order. hope this helps.

Which fan? Condensor or Evap. ac or dc? Could be big problem, main board. Could be fan. Ck power to same and or blockage.

I would get it. I like the fact that the control is old school $60 (none electronic). It has a old school defrost timer. Parts are reasonable timer $20 heater $30 terminator $20 bucks compressor $230 bucks. Looks like it uses R134A freon which is environmentally safe and available to anyone. Not bad at all compared to the crappy electronically controlled models of today. Today's electronically controlled ice boxs are subject to spike surge electrical storm damages etc. Even though this one could be hit by storms too, it is much less likely to happen and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to work on it. If it's old change it but I would also check to make sure the ice maker itself is not corroding on the inside, When they get older the paint comes off in the tray.

Put an inline filterin the fridge water feed line or flush out the line.

You don't say how old the frig is ... you cant have a frig run like this. On one day ... off the next ... slam the door and it works ... Either get a new frig of get this one repaired professionally. Probably best to get a new frig. I would guess minimum service call charge will be $250.00

Check to see that the refrigerator has power and is working. Reset or replace the fuse or circuit breaker in the house if needed, especially if a power outage has recently occurred. Make sure the water valve is connected to the refrigerator and is fully turned on. Ensure that the ice maker is turned on. yes u can try new newspaper crumpled up all in the ref. and freezer.. it will absorb the smell. but make sure to wipe it again with clorox or bleach water. also charocal u know bar-b-q char. left inside will absorb a lot of smells. ok try that.
