I have bought several pairs of headphones for my gogear but they all sound like there is a problem with the connection only getting sound through one ear sometimes

The headphone socket in the GoGear is faulty. If you can hear sounds from both ear pieces when you wriggle the headphone plug in the GoGear, then the headphone socket in the GoGear is faulty. This fault can be easily fixed by removing the circuit board in the GoGear and resoldering the headphone socket to the circuit. You need a very fine tipped temperature soldering iron to do this job.

My philips go gear mp3 player 8gb SA52XX is frozen

Hi Ayesha. Resetting the device should be able to fix minor problem with the unit. Since resetting the device had no effect, the problem you might encountering there is more of firmware problem. Try to reinstall/upgrade the firmware of your device. Philips has software that is called SONGBIRD. I think you have that one in the cd when you purchased the program You may download the progra,m by clicking here. Below is the procedure on how to perform the uprgade:Download and install the Phillips Songbird program. Launch the Phillips Songbird software. Connect the Phillips GoGear MP3 player to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Click the icon of your GoGear MP3 player on the left side of the Songbird interface. Click the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check for updated firmware" button. If a new update is available for your device, it will be downloaded and applied. Do not disconnect the GoGear MP3 player until the Songbird program tells you that the installation is complete.Hope this helps.. Downloaded songs from bearshare to

Hi catie0077...

Thats becausethe tunes that you download are probably Itunes, and Itunes has a DRM on all movies/music/music videos.
What that means is the music will only work when they are in Itunes or are on other Apple products, like Ipad,Ipod, etc.
You will need to convert those songs from ACC to MP3 or WMA before they will play on your MP3 player.
You can get a free file converter at the following webpage: http://formatoz.com/

Hi, I am using Philips Go

Possible that some of the files in the GoGear are not to the requriement of the player. So download the media converter and download the files to be transferred to the player. In the first place connect the player to the PC and move OFF all the files , delete the memory to be free and then reload using the converter .

How do you snyc from i tunes onto a go gear

Hi there. This is impossible as iTunes is a software produced by Apple for Apple products therefore iTunes will only be able to sync to Ipods, Iphones and Ipads and not to your Philips GoGear.

Please use the normal My Computer>Removable Device>respective folder such as music to transfer your files.

Please rate and comment, thank you.

you can simply use drag and drop method to transfer music from your computer to your MP3 player. You can also use Windows media player 10 to transfer music. Make sure to use version 10,. Version 11 doesn't work.

Transfer music via Windows Media Player 10:

1.Hook up your GoGear to the PC via the supplied USB cable.
2.Plug your GoGear into a power outlet with the supplied AC adapter/charger.
3.Launch Windows Media Player 10.
Note: Once the device is connected to the computer, all audio or radio playback will stop.
4.Check and make sure that the Create folder hierachy on device option is enabled in Windows Media Player. Go to Tools>Options. Select the Devices tab and then highlight GoGear Audio and click Properties
5.Click "OK" to close the windows.
6.Click the "Sync" tab.
7.In the "Items to Copy" pane, from the drop-down list, click the playlist, category, or other item that you want to copy.
8.Click the check boxes next to any files you want to copy.

9.In the "Items on Device" pane, from the drop-down list, click on PhilipsGoGear for where to copy files to.
10.Click the "Start Sync" button.
11.The Player verifies that there is sufficient storage space on the device to copy the selected files. If there is sufficient space, the files are converted (if necessary) and copied to the portable device.
12.Repeat steps 2-5 for any other items that you want to copy to your portable device.
13.Once the transfer is completed, close Windows Media Player.

Most of the songs that

This is due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) of songs you have purchased through iTunes that are not iTunes+ (DRM Free Files). These Files show up in iTunes as AAC files and have the extension .m4p. These files will not play on any other type of player than an Apple iPod, or iPhone etc. They must first be converted to standard mp3 files. This can be achieved several ways:
1) Burn the songs to CD then re-import them as MP3 Files and copy those files to your device (time consuming)
or
2) Create an MP3 Version of the song within iTunes which is fast and easy:
step 1: Open iTunes -> Preferences
On the General Tab you will see "Import Settings" near the bottom of the window under "When You Insert a CD". Click the button "Import Settings"
Now change Import Using: to MP3 Encoder
Click OK. Click OK again to close the Preferences window.
step 2: Now back in iTunes you will see your music library. Highlight the song you want to play on your Philips MP3 player and click the right-mouse button to bring up the context menu.
You will see "Create MP3 Version" As an option on this menu.
step 3: Create MP3 Versions of the songs that will not play on your player
step 4: Copy the MP3 Version of the songs to your player. You can do this by highlighting the Newly Created MP3 Song and right-click "Show in Finder" or "Show File".
