I would try it, if you haven't already, without any outputs (Speakers) hooked up, just the amp and the power...if the fuse goes again, it has an internal problem.

My amp keeps going in and out of protect mode

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} Your amp is probably OK. The volume is either set to high or the speaker load is to low of an impedance. Remember 2, 8 ohm speakers connected is the same as 1, 4 ohm speaker. Another possibility is that you do not have enough battery power coming to the amp itself. A simple rule I use is take the watts and divide by ten, that will give you an approximation of the amps needed on a 12 volt system. This takes into account some of the losses in the amp, but it is only an approximation. For example 300 watts RMS is 30 amps, which will require a number 8 wire to keep the losses at a minimum. You can check wire drops on the web.

Good Luck,

I installed a 475a to my door speakers and when i

You blew the speakers. The speakers were probably not made for that much power and the voice coil blew. If they were stock speakers, then they are defenetly blown. Stock speakers are not made for much power at all, and will more than likely blow with any extra power given to them at all.

I just bought a 98 concorde lxi and no sound

Hello georgouseyes,

The problem could be in the output from your receiver to the amp or in the amp itself.

First check to see if the amp powers up. If it doesn't, check the main power fuse (usually located under the hood near the battery). Also check the power and ground connections on both ends.

If the main fuse checks OK, check both onboard fuses. There's 2 35A fuses on the far right.

If the amp powers up OK and the onboard fuses are not defective, it's possibly the output from your receiver or line output converter. Replace the RCA cables with a known good pair. If there's still no sound, I'd suspect that the amp itself is defective.

Hope this helps.

Bose amlifier

Power wire is usually yellow or red. A cheap test light from the parts store will tell you. The remote wire is almost alway solid blue. A volt meter will tell you for sure. Remember, the remote wire is very low voltage.

Lack of power, or bad amp?

Check your ground. Its just as important as the power supply. Take off any paint, good ground means good power, check the fuse on the amp and any connctions to the battery other than that i would exchange it

Protect Mode

Hello,

first I would advise you to tighten all of your ground and power connections. Then I would suggest that you expose the circuit board and start the amplifier warm up process, once the amp comes on I would use freeze spray to cool down various components in an attempt to find the component which has become thermally sensitive. Once you find the component I would suggest replacing it and the putting the cover back on the unit.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
