the problem is either from the Encore or from your computer's USB configuration.
This is what you need to try first:
Turn on your laptop, insert the Encore into our computer, under "Search" type in "Device Manager" and press enter on your keyboard. You will see a list of your computer's device.
Amongst the list, go to Universal Serial Bus Controller (USB), click the plus sign by the side, you will see your Encore there, right click on it, scroll to "Uninstall" and click it. Allow it uninstall and uninstall other related device to the Encore. Remove the Encore from your laptop, restart the laptop.
Once the laptop is restarted, insert the Encore into your laptop USB and it will install it afresh. After that, it should function perfectly again.
If the Encore still gives the same problem, then know for sure that the Encore is defective, and needs to be replaced.

Try it and see. If it is Plug n Play compatible, it will work. It should tell you it is loading the driver and then, whether the driver installed correctly. If everything works as it should, you will have no problem. If not, go to the manufacturers web site, Support and Downloads and download the USB controller software for Windows 7.

It does not run on apple operating system that is why it is not working. read the box it came with to see if it does and if it does then you need to download the driver and install on your iMac before it can function.
