take the hard disk and create a external interface and connect it using firewire to another mac it will mount on it and extract it. if not use third party software search from google.

Oprime el boton de poder e imediatamente oprime el boton "Option" y mantenga la tecla selecionada. Esto le senala al sistema que quieres ver todas las seleciones para butiar. El sistema debe mostrar un imagen del disco duro si no esta fallado. Si lo ensena, puedes selecionar el disco duro con el mouse o usando las teclas de direciony oprimes el buton "Return" or "Enter".
Si ningun imagen aparece o mas importante, si no muestra el imagen del disco duro, eso indica que el disco duro ha fallado y necesesitara re-emplaso. El sistem de OS X necesitara ser re-instalado con todos sus aplicaciones tambien.

Sounds like a key on the keyboard is stuck. Try lightly tapping the key several times and or use a keyboard cleaner on it. Radio Shack sells keyboard cleaner

You will most likely need to take it to a Apple Authorised Service Centre. AASC

You can get them on Ebay, they are quite common. Alternatively, you may be able to take it to an Apple Store, who should be able to help you out.

Try:
- moving some of the things off of your desktop, into a folder elsewhere on your computer
then
- Hit command-J at the desktop (or view > show view options) and at the "Arrange By" menu, choose "Name". This will make sure that everything comes back on to your desktop in an orderly fashion if some of the icons are pushed out of the way.

There may be a temperature sensor in the machine that is failing. When a sensor fails or the machine is over heating the Fans kick into overdrive to protect the machine. You can take the machine into any authorized repair center to have the sensors and boards checked. This is the only true way to find out what is wrong with the machine

Assuming that you have already installed the hard drive into the computer you want to insert the Operating System discs that came with your computer.
On the main screen, select Utilities from the top menu and then Disk Utility.
Select the Hard disk that you installed and format it (usually HFS (journaled).
After the formatting is complete, then reboot and install the operating system.

sounds like a hard drive problem. Mine did the same thing, but do some research first. I had to install a new HD.

I can only give you an answer for Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6, as I do not run an earlier version anymore. Seeing as the Mac startup sound does successfully play through your external speakers, it leads me to believe that that hardware aspect is fine. The next area to evaluate is the software.

1. Open you System Preferences and click on the Sound icon.
2. Now, ensure your viewing the Output settings.
3. First check to make sure that the appropriate line out setting has been selected. I used the mini jack for my speakers, so I have selected "Line Out". If you are using digital output, you will probably select the "Digital Out" option.
4. If the output selected is good, last check the "Output Volume" slider at the bottom of the Sound preference window, and ensure that the Mute checkbox is not selected.

Go to the apple menu then down to about this mac from here it will tell you the basic information for your G4 and if you need further information click on more information and it will open system profiler and give you the full information for your G4. Hope this helps.
