How to find safari icon on mac
its the little blue icon in the very far top right corner. its a little spy glass.just type in safari in the search bar and it will look for it for you.then if you want to save it to your dock (the place where all the applications are stored for easy access) right click the little compass or in this case for macs ctrl click the compass and click "keep in dock."that way you can just click the icon rather then have to search for it every time.:)
I need a manual for an iMac G5
Enter the model into google and you should be able to find a user manual. Also, the apple website is fairly thorough and should you call in they are extremely helpful with little to no wait time in my experience.
Replace iMac g5 20 hard drive
Hi JohnTry reinstalling via your macbook pro but this way round.Put the Leopard Disk into the Macbook and then start the Macbook in Target mode.on the iMac start it up and hold down the Option (or Alt) key then wait.after a short while you will be offered the HD in the MacBook and the DVD. Choose the DVD and see what happens. What happens when you do it the other war arounds is that you are installing a startup system for the MacBook onto the HD of the G5 and not the system for the G5. The installer uses the firmware of the motherboard that is running the install to select the correct version.Another issue is that the disk formatting may be wrong. it's unlikely seeing that you used disk utility from the DVD, but it is possible. Let us know how you get on.
How do you boot from an external hard drive

TRYING TO INSTALL MAC OS VIA TARGET DISC MODER
The issue you are having is one in Intel, the other is G3. This is how to do it. 1. put the cd/dvd into the laptop and restart the laptop in Target mode. 2. connect the laptop to the iMac with a Firewire cable. 3. Start the imac and immediatle hold down the alt/option key. 4. after a moment you will be offered a choice of start-up discs - one of which will be the CD/dvd in the laptop. 5. Start from the CD and then when asked, select the iMac drive as the destination. This ensures that the imac loads the correct version of the OS for its processor. Should work without a hitch.
I have a apple Imac g5 that only boots colored screens
The first thing I would do is boot up in safe mode see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455 this will boot the imac up without extensions on that includes video extensions which could be the source of the problem. See if the screen works after this, if it does it could indicate that the either video card is not operating properly or one of the drivers isn't. If you then search on google for your model of card and see if this is a known problem and you could find a work round. If it boots up as you have described it in your email it's a possiblity that the card is no longer functional and it will be expensive to repair.
IMac freezes on startup. Can't use safemode.
Safe mode just requires holding shift down during start up and if it starts up at all this should be possible. Once in safe mode, you should be able to use Disk Utility to Verify disk and Fix Permissions. To Repair disk or with/without safe mode you need to startup with your install disk and on the first screen or after selecting language, use options to select Disk Utility. You really should tell us the MacOS version--10.3.9 10.4.11 10.5.8 or 10.6 are current and tell us your install disk version, too. With safe mode you can use terminal to run fsck to fix the disk, read the man page. Alternatives include starting up in Target Disk Mode (command+t at startup) and using your computer as an external disk for another Mac by Firewire or possibly USB, fixing it using the others software. These methods in descending ease.
A now permanently dark screen would indicate a bigger problem and a trip to an Apple store for an evaluation. Tell us your iMac model--could affect whether you can easily savage your disk data in this case.

I have an all in one Mac OS X with 2.4 GHz Intel
HelloYou can check your hard drive's health at startup pressing command-s. you will see a black screen with white text. simply type "fsck -f" and press return. It should check your drive and tell you if something goes wrong with it, and repair it if possible. Then type "reboot" and press enter to test.It this does not help, you can press the shift key at startup. It does the same thing, but also disables the extensions at startup, this will help you to find out what the problem is. The startup will be longer and it should ask for your admin password. If this still doesn't help, you might have a hardware problem (hard drive). You can try to backup your data, erase the disk and reinstall the system. To backup you need another Mac, and a firewire cable. Press the "T" button at startup, this should set the Mac in "target" mode, allowing you to use it as an external hard drive. Then connect the firewire cable between the two macs. On the mac that is OK, you should see the hard drive icon of the other mac...Hope that you will succeed and that it helped you someway
