Having problems with Quark 6.5 since upgrading to
You most likely do need to upgrade Quark. There is a known problem with 6.5 and Tiger, since 10.4 was a major departure from Jaguar, which Quark 6.5 was designed for.
Before you do that though, you might want to explore font cache issues that can also cause this. Here's a free tool and writeup on the subject: http://www.jamapi.com/pr/fn/

The screen telling you to reset the computer is called a kernel panic, this is what happens when the computer knows something - either software or hardware is wrong with it,but it doesn't know exactly what.
I would recommend you use the restore dvd that came with the computer, boot from it by holding C while you turn on the computer, and do an "Archive and install" to get the operating system back up and running, this will not delete any of your info as long as you choose the archive and install under options during the install.
G5 Mac Desktop freezes at random
First you need to run some maintenance (which in itself may solve it) to rule out software issues, so start here...
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
Mac OS X: How to start up in single-user or verbose mode
If that doesn't help, try booting into Safe Mode and see what happens, if it comes up hopefully another restart may solve, if not, you can at least use this as a starting point to try and resolve. Safe Mode will allow you to get around, surf, etc...
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
If Safe Mode comes up alright, I would install AppleJack, excellent troubleshooting article can be found here... Troubleshooting Tools: AppleJack
Another excellent free tool for performing maintenance is Onyx (be sure to download the right version for your system). Install the package, then run it, it will check your drive and the structure, after this, click on the automation tab and check on everything for Maintenance, Clear Cache, Cleaning, and check on Reset -> LaunchServices database and Mail's Envelope Index. When it completes, restart. Repeat any time something seems flaky, if not try to run at least once a month.
Connect internet via ethernet
to use dhcp with several computers, you need to have a box that allows the dhcp mode and which is configure to goes on
Screen switches from application back to desktop
Open your System Preferences. Go to Dashboard & Expose. This is a very helpful application in my world. Whenever you want to see all the windows, hide windows, start screen saver, you just push your mouse into the appropriate corner. Sounds like you have a corner set and when you hit it, you trip the effect. Change the corner and check them out, Handy to use when you have multiple windows open. Experiment and see.
Mac OS10 -
Sounds like may be a stuck key on your keyboard, try unplugging keyboard long enough to see if it continues. If it turns out to be keyboard, try firmly (bang) each of the following keys several times: [Command] [Alt] left [Alt] right [Tab] [O]. Perhaps the function keys as well. I have had this "unstick" the problematic key before on different keyboards. Reconnect keyboard and see if that helps.
My PowerMac G5 tower freezes up on reboot with world icon.
Unsure what you mean by "change the name". SCSI chains rely on "SCSI IDs" typically numbered 0-7 or 0-14. You will need to detach the SCSI drive, boot the machine, in the blue apple in the upper left navigate to About This Mac -> More Info -> Hardware -> Parallel SCSI and look for what SCSI IDs are already in use, then shut down, change the DIP switch on your external SCSI drive to an open (unused) number to avoid conflicts, reattach, this should eliminate the conflict. The DIP switch number equals the sum of the numbers you have set the switches to, so if you flipped the switches on 1 and 2, the drive's ID would be 3.
Apple G5 Locked up
Sounds like you have a permissions issue, first boot in single-user mode and repair permissions.

Installing OSX version from a dmg file
It is possible to install the OS from an image that's been generated on an external HDD as well, but you can't install the OS from a disk image that you're running within the OS. If you lost your installation disc, you can get a replacement by calling Apple.
Disk Drive spits out brand new DVD+R DL cds
The drive in the G5 may not support DL discs. Open the system profiler (From the apple menu, select 'About This Mac' then select 'More Info'). Click on 'Disc Burning' in the left hand column. You will now get the details about the disc drive including which discs are supported.
I have an apple G5 single core
It sounds like you're asking to see if you can add a "core" to your G5. If so, that's not a possibility. Dual core is nice but the G5 is still a powerful machine. If you've maxed out your ram and running a good graphics card and you're still having problems running programs then you should consider an upgrade to a dual core/quad core machine.
Apple G5 - PCI-X slots
PCI-X is powerful expansion port. The purpose of the slots on your motherboard is for you to be able to install a component that doesn't already exist hardwired on your motherboard. The most common use is for high speed internet connections called a network or ethernet card (the fat phone cord type of connection, also called cat-5).
PCI-X slots can take both PCI-X and certain types of PCI cards. The processing power potential of the slot is only fully used in certain situations and with the correct components.
SUMMARY:
PCI-X is for you to add a component to your computer, most likely a high speed internet card. You should use the full slot by purchasing a PCI-X compliant Ethernet card. This gives you the potential to transfer data at super high speed
Mac G5 shutdown and now won't power up
Sounds like a bad power supply. They do go bad... get a new one and hook it up without installing it. If it boots your machine...you've solved your problem. That battery retains some boot info and your date/time settings.
Water block lug cracked
There are specialist Mac repairers that can supply parts on the net. You should be able to find one reasonably local to you who will be able to supply you with a replacement as these items can't be reliably repaired.
Pytivo
Hi there,
Ignore that link and goto this one instead:

On the right is a Zip file you can download and install a lot easier. The manual install is for advanced users only and if you need to be asking questions on here you're probably not advanced enough to do it. Much easier to use the self-installer unless you have some other reason for doing it manually.
All the best.
