When this happens it usually means that the water isn't heating up correctly, this can be a fault with the element, the thermostat and or the temperature sensor/electronics there is no way to tell without actually examining the unit.
This really isn't the type of a repair that one can do oneself, unless one has the service manual, the spare parts. the tools and instruments, and time. The best course of action is to contact your local Krups representative and arrange a service call.

A few initial steps:
- Insure that the water reservoir is full, and that the machine is plugged in.
- Check the water inlet tube for kinks.
- Ensure that you are using the correct portafilter or insert for ESE pods.

My Krups can't pump water
your machine might need descaling. I had trouble unscrewing the screw that holds the filter, but a bit of CRC and carefully turning back and forward did the job.
Our maching was completely blocked until I cleaned the filter.

just Google the model number, or Google Krups, search for the model, and you should be able to locate the user manual. That's how I got my user manual for our xp4050

I had the same problem. The metal filter is clogged with very finely ground coffee. To clear the filter, boil it in vinegar and let it sit for a few hours. Rinse the filter and run water through it in the machine (no coffee in the filter). I found I had to grind the coffee at the medium setting in order to keep the problem from recurring.
My espresso machine no longer
I had the same problem; I ground the beans too fine and plugged the metal filter. I boiled the filter in vinegar and it works fine now. Only do this if you have an exhaust fan that vents to the outside, it's pretty smelly.
