Where is the pan where

Hi, well the pan you are referring to is called the "drip pan" pretty clever huh?lol well this is located underneath the unit most commonly under the freezer side towards the back. To find it you can pull the fridge out from the wall and unplug it. Then remove the cover panel for the compressor and sealed system. When you remove this panel you will be able to see the drip pan under the freezer. Im assuming you are needing to find this because it is leaking. That is a very common problem due to the pans being made out of plastic and being exposed to temperature changes will sometime cause it to crack. I hope this helped you in any way. Please give some feedback.

My refrigerator is not cooling.

Top of Form

If there is no cooling at all , before we go further we must confirm the first step of confirming the compressor and gas pressure. So shut off the fridge and leave it off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within. Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. If there is no ice formation we have a big issue as the compressor and gas must be checked out. If compressor is running check the pressure, get help to test gas pressure. If not you will need to fill up ,If gas pressure is good the possibility of the compressor being inefficient is high. In such a case you must take consensus to estimate and decide, if RPM of motor is low check capacitor. However if Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked. If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters. So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

Fridge is not cooling even though it is set at

If there is no frost at all you have a major problem such as a bad compressor, clogged capillary tube or low on gas. However if there is a thin layer of frost along the entire coils you know those things are working properly.

But since it is freezing things in the bottom of the fresh food section I don't think you are going to have that type of problem. I think it has an airflow problem. Check to see if the fan inside the freezer is running.

When your side-by-side refrigerator isn't cooling, simple solutions are sometimes the answer, and sometimes parts must be replaced. Try fixing your own fridge to avoid costly repair bills--unless your refrigerator is still under warranty. In that case, call a repair center first.

Simple Solutions

If a large amount of food has recently been stored, or if the doors are opened frequently or for long periods of time, your refrigerator will not cool as quickly. Make sure the controls are set to the recommended setting (marked on the dial), and that nothing is blocking the internal air vents. If the room temperature is unusually high, try adjusting the refrigerator to a cooler setting. Wait 24 hours for it to take effect.

Home Repairs

Try vacuuming the condenser coils behind the front kick plate of the fridge. If this doesn't work, manually defrost the freezer. If the unit cools normally after manual defrost, replace the automatic defrost assembly, located above and behind the refrigerator side.

When to Call a Pro

If your refrigerator still doesn't cool after manual defrost, contact a repair technician to check your coolant levels and compressor. If you are unfamiliar with electrical repair or if your unit is under warranty, always call a professional first.

The icemaker is not making

Hello,

Take off the back panel in the freezer. 1/4" screws. Use a nut driver or ratchet and socket with an extension.
2. Behind the frost is the evaporator and the defrost heaters. One heater in the middle and one at the bottom. They are glass tubes. If you can see the bottom heater that is great. If not use a hair dryer and defrost only the very bottom to expose the lower heater only.
3. Now in the refrigerator section at the top where the controls are, take off the long plastic piece to expose the timer. The timer should be on the right hand side and have a little circle that is slotted. Get a flat screwdriver and turn that timer slowly clockwise just until it clicks and the refrigerator turns off. This will put it into defrost.
4. Now look at that heater that you exposed and see if it glows and gets hot. If it does, then the timer is bad.
5. If the heater doesn't come on then go ahead and defrost the rest of the evaporator with the hair dryer. This will take a little while. Don't poke at the evaporator!!!
6. Once totally defrosted look at both heaters. They should look like clear glass and see a silver coil running through them. If they look discolored at all then the heaters are bad. The heaters come as a complete assembly with the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator.
7. If the heaters look okay the only way to know for sure if they are bad is to check continuity with a meter on the plug at the end of their wiring harness. If you can check that then you can splice in a new defrost thermostat to solve the problem. However the best thing to do is replace the heaters and defrost thermostat . It is easy to install.
Follow these steps and this will solve your problem.

Hope this helpout.....

All of a sudden freezer

Hello, there

A refrigerator not cold enough is a hassle, because you are at risk of spoiling the foods you store in there. Most often, this problem is caused by something easy to fix.
1. Faulty Door Gaskets

The door gaskets in a refrigerator ensure a sealed closure every time you shut the door. Torn or loose gaskets on the door of the refrigerator can result in a leak in the cold air. As a result, the refrigerator is warmer. Repetitive and frequent opening and closing of the refrigerator is also a possible cause, because the warm air from outside replaces the cold air in the refrigerator every time you open it.
2. Dirty Condenser Coils

Dirty condenser coils can result in improper functioning of the refrigerator. These coils are located on the back or the underside of refrigerators. If you find this to be the cause of the problem, unplug the refrigerator before you attempt any cleaning.
3. Frost-free Feature not Working

If the frost-free feature fails, it causes a buildup of frost around the evaporator coils in the freezer. This causes a malfunctioning of the evaporator fan that blows cold air around. The fan can also be damaged if it hits the frost.
4. Faulty or Incorrect Temperature Control

A faulty thermostat can lead to a refrigerator that is not maintaining the desired coldness. Check for this problem and also ensure that the temperature is set to the correct level. Normally, refrigerators are set to a temperature of about 0°C, whereas the freezer sections are around -17°C.
5. Inadequate Air Flow inside Refrigerator

A refrigerator that is loaded with too many food items can fail to maintain an adequate level of coolness across all the items kept in it. The surface items tend to be colder, and the items underneath do not become as cold. A refrigerator that has very few items in it can also fail to function efficiently. Try to ensure that your refrigerator has enough food in it at all times, but is not so loaded that the air flow gets constricted.
6. Vents between Freezer and Refrigerator Clogged

The vents between the freezer and refrigerating section blow cold air from the freezer across to the refrigerator. If these vents are clogged with ice, the air is blocked and the refrigerator does not cool down. If this is the case, you can unplug the refrigerator, wait for the ice to melt and then connect it back to the power supply.
7. Faulty Door Switch

The door switch is found on the bottom of refrigerator doors. It turns off the light in the refrigerator and resumes cooling action when you close the door. If this switch is not functioning properly, the refrigerator will not be cold and it will also be affected by the heat of the interior light.
8. Refrigerant Leak

A refrigerant leak is very unlikely. This problem can cause malfunctioning of your refrigerator. If you suspect this to be the cause, contact a service technician.
Hoping this will help in solving the problem....

Not making ice, checked optics ,good ,water valve

OK you mentioned the ice maker had no cubes or not making cubes, try filling tray with water from tap. Let freeze and if the ice drops into ice bin the ice maker is OK. Most times the ice maker thermostat is at fault (pt. 27 in photo) if not cycling. Read OHM's between both coils and they should be very near to same reading, if not replace water control valve=> 4389177 by applying first 120VAC to see if valve opens. If water goes into ice maker this way or OHMs between the two are nearly the same your Ice Maker=>2198597 Ice Maker Assembly may need replaced. If you would like to rebuild your Ice Maker here are the part Breakdown view=>

Hi,

Here is a tip that I wrote on moving refrigerators...if you did not do it this way then you may well have ruined a perfectly good refrigerator.

Moving a Refrigerator What is the best way

If you already have moved it wrong, you can sometimes get it working by plugging it in and unplugging it a number of times with an hour or so in between.

Came home to find water

The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it's bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it's bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it's ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it does not cost much. A quick check on the compressor is to remove the start relay. You will see 3 pins connect a multi meter set for continuity. You should have continuity between any of the 3 pins. If you do not the compressor is bad. Also check from each pin to a good ground on the cabinet. There should be no continuity if there is the compressor is bad. If you replace it and it doesn't work then the compressor is bad and you'll need to call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). You can enter your model # at http://appliancehelponline.com/referclicking.html for diagrams and illustrations or to purchase a start relay. A 3 in 1 start relay will also work fine. All parts come with installation instructions. Not all models are available.
