Needle replacement
Just look at the cartridge fitted. It should have a make and model number. Put that into google and you should find a new stylus.
Need a new cartridge
On the old one should be a number. If you put that into Google then it should find a site that sells them.
Needle sliding
Going on what little you have written, the most likely cause is a worn or bent needle. http://www.turntableneedles.com/search.asp?keyword=793-d&search=GO is the needle type that should be correct for your Teac SL-A100 Turntable.
Hum
You should check the earth connections to the cartridge, make certain they are tight and correct.
AFTER adjusting the speed setting
If it says your speed setting in on 33, than you have a problem with the speed control inside of the turntable, there is not much you can do in that area. 33 is the slowest speed too, so it seems like it is stuck on 45 or 78. Call Teac if you are still under warranty.
Arm and needle skate across the record and no
The stylus should either just clip out or slide out depending on the type of cartridge fitted. On the weight thing look at the other end of the arm. It should have either somekind of screw or a weight with numbers on it. Slacken the weight and move it so the head where the cartridge is gets heavy. If it has numbers turn it to around 2 or 3 or higher and test/adjust using a record till it plays and doesn't make too much rumble sound when playing (in the gaps with no music) with both types of weight.
Motor on its way out?
hell yeah!! never say die!! i wish i could fix it for you! classics cant be bought! just owned! you may have to pull it apart and clean it .... it sound s like dirt is a factor in all your problems! check that the drive (friction drive ) is cleaned as it is obviously slipping and all will be well again!
Stopped turning
Try removing the cover and looking for a broken belt. Make sure that the motor is spinning too. If you find a broken belt, let me know and I'll help you find a replacement.
Good luck!
