Whirlpool cabrio wtw5500xw1 will not spin

This is caused by a major design flaw in this washer. I have the same washer and am having the same problem. If you take the back cover off by removing the small metal cover over the tube coming from the controls and all the screws around the large lower metal cover, you can gain access to the back of the washer. Take the foam noise reduction pad out of the bottom of the washer. There is a white opaque plastic shroud on the bottom of all the motors covering the belt. Remove it by taking out the screw in the front bottom and back bottom of the shroud. You will most likely see that the belt fell off. This is because the drive pulley for this washer has no ridge on it to keep the belt on and most likely rubbed on the shroud and cut a perfect groove in the shroud, allowing the belt to fall off. SHORT STORY: This washer is a piece and you are probably out of warranty. There is no actual way to fix this problem unless Whirlpool has made a new drive pulley that has a ridge on it to keep the belt on the two pulleys. Good luck. I bought mine for $700 and it worked for two years before this happened.

"2007 Whirlpool Cabrio HE top loader with glass lid" sat for 3 months, now it does everything except agitate, and flashes

The OL error code indicates that the washer is overloaded. If the washer is not overloaded, this would indicate either a drag on the drive system or the control board is failing. Be sure nothing is on the floor under the washer that could be causing a problem. Raise the lid & manually spin the basket, it should spin freely. If not, you may have an item stuck between the spin basket and the washer tub. The image below shows how to remove the spin basket. If you unplug the washer and follow that procedure, you may find the cause of your problem. Here is the document to help you.

Spinning cycle noise and F1 code

I wrote the comment about the jet engine noise and the F1 code on my WTW6600W Cabrio washer. Today I called Whirlpool Service at 800-253-1301 and have your model and serial numbers ready. I mentioned the F1 problem first and then explained about the noise. She did a little research and informed me that the F1 problem and the bearings problem are connected and she arranged their service people to repair both at no charge to us! It's so worth the call, we almost bought a new washer. HUGE SURPRISE!!
