New Mastercool pads smell bad

The cellulose pads in a mastercool are glued together and usually the adhesive is what you smell. It may take a while for it to go away. Strange as it may seem, as the pads get more mineralization and you use it more the smell will go away. Do not use a cooler for your whole house without plenty of exhaust through a window or an updux. Coolers work best when there is plenty of freely moving air.

I have a mastercool cooler and i need to clean the

CLEANING PADS My pads are 3 years old. (1) I tried soaking them in Vinegar & water which helped. (2) I then sprayed them with a hose nozzle, that helped also. We live in AZ so the dust storms can be horrendous and I still had build up. (3) So I took a variable speed drill and a wire brush and removed more. (4) Then ,as these filters are made of a wood by product, I took a belt sander ...they look good now. (5) Now when I reinstall them I am going to change the pads so pads facing outside will be facing inside, keeping the 45 degree forward and down. This last step I haven't tried, but it should work.

Remotes are a pain. Can you get into the unit to see the control box? You need to see if the unit has power. If its new enough it will have some diognostic lights so you can see if it has power. Without that its hard to diognose. Unit Model number is also helpfull. if it looks like the one on this picture it will be etched into a badge on one of the corner pillars. if its a plastic unit it will be on a sticker inside the unit

Will not turn on after a blackout

Turn off your breakers and then back on. There are fuses located in the a/c control panel. Check them. If you aren't getting any power still, a board may have been blown during the storm.

York 3phase compressor tripping on low currant microprocessor.

If the unit is single phasing this is not good for the compressor. Does the system have a phase monitor? If not I would suggest you put one in to save thousands of dollars on the replacement of the compressor. How is the oil level? I ask because this are not to run themselves out of oil.

The tank on the mastercool is beginning to rust

I have wondered this myself. The Mastercool has inherent weaknesses in the pan where the metal sides and bottom tray meet. Of course they are not manufactured with a fiberglass tray because they would last too long and therefore reduce profits for replacement coolers. I have found that the bottoms of the pans rarely rust because they are constantly under water, not exposed to the air, and also accumulate a buildup of minerals that actually protect the metal. It seems that water gets in the seams and along with the exposed metal at the waterline, rusts out primarily in the end corners. I know of no fiberglass insert but am currently working on three rusted units by using fiberglass cloth and resin and filling holes with good ol' regular automotive Bondo. I am particularly making sure that it is totally sealed so not water can get past the pan. It will take a year or two to find out if this works. I have also considered cutting off the old pan and having a local HVAC shop fabricate a new one using stainless steel or aluminum. This might be a little costly but would save time compared to reworking the old one with fiberglass cloth. I have been successful in obtaining used metal including SS sheets from the salvage yard very economically. The cost would be in the simple fabrication of the tray and any welding required to make it watertight. I might try this down the line if the fiberglass retro doesn't work.

Just go to a good hardware store and they will hook you up what you want is just a 1/4inch float they should have a evap. cooler section. And then you can get hot and sweaty. There is a pump and spider assy. that could be bad, but if you have no water in the bottom of the cooler your on track.
