Dishes not getting clean, what to do to fix this

The drain hose positioning on a dishwasher is very important. Coming from the sink drain it must first loop up and then go down to the dishwasher. This loop is important because it keeps the sink water from flowing down and contaminating the the diswasher sump with debris. Another problem is that the drain hose drains "down" from the dishwasher and water is siphoning out, this is an incorrect installation. Check the water level after it starts and again after abt 3 min. if the water level has gone down you have a siphon problem. Good Luck.

I have a OE error code.

That is actually DE as in Drain Error. Check for plugged drain hose or blockage in the sump area. Another possiblity is the following, from my tips and tricks:

If you are getting a IE or similar error on your LG dishwasher and have not been able to solve the problem using information based on that code, check the serial number of the dishwasher. If the first three numbers are between 501 and 702 you may have this problem:

The black mastic sound insulation material inside the dishwasher door can soften from the heat inside the dishwasher, allowing the wires inside the door to become embedded in it. If this has happened, the insulation on the wires can soften and begin to dissolve, resulting in shorted or broken wires. This may cause various error codes which may send you on a wild goose chase.

Take the screws out of the door and inspect the black insulation and the wires. If any wires are embedded in the black mastic, you may cut them and bypass them with a new section of wire, then make sure to add an insulating material to separate the wires from contacting the black mastic. In severe cases, the inner door panel must be replaced (they no longer use that type of mastic) and the wiring harness for the dishwasher would also be replaced. (a set of all the wires and plugs).

My lgis making a horrible noise and is now shoeing an e1 code dishwasher

The LG does suffer from "poor quality" motor that causes this type of noise. The main motor and pump assembly is common to give this type of problem. The pump seal leaks a small amount of water that gets onto the front bearing and causes a "grinding = humming" noise. This can be easly replaced once you have the bottom off and dishwasher on its door. The motoe has 1 screw in the back holding the motor to the bottom and two rubber seals for the water pump in/out into the washer. Just pull and move motor and pump assmbly and it comes free. Replace with a new motor and pump assembly...

The dishwasher begins to start, then it stops,

Hello

The "IE" error code indicates a problem with the water inlet. The water supply valves are not turned on fully or the inlet hoses are kinked, clogged or frozen. Remove kinks in the hoses and remove clogs with a straightened coat hanger. If this does not resolve the problem, contact a service technician.

Upper Spray arms not spraying

Took apart again and found the stepping motor which diverts the water from lower to upper spray arms to be burnt out. I was able to manually set the diverter to the correct position so the dishwasher works but I am waiting for new parts to properly repair the problem.

I have an LG6810ST dishwasher

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand by reading your post which indicates it is a LG dishwasher you appear to have a concern with, however if you could provide the complete model number (seems to be missing a letter or two) or confirm the number all together I'd be better equipped and most certainly able to help without generalizing.

I will say the LG have error codes associated with faulty heaters or thermistors. If you do not get a "tE" for thermistor or a "HE" for heater, it is not likely one of those two. Have you assessed the venting system ? Most times in my experience it is am obstructed fan blade (too much crud on the blades/vanes), failed wax motor, or condensation area.

Example:

Hopefully you can appreciate there are many variations of dishwashers even within the "LG" brand name machines (Even certain models have several "revisions" in a production run) I'll watch for your reply and try and help going forward. Thank you.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

I am getting an OE

Hi

OE in your dishwasher is a drain error and dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. If the issue returns after cleaning then the drain pump assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

What does OE as an error stands for?

Hi wernerbuys,

The "OE" error code you are seeing, means "Outlet Error"

The drain pump is either clogged, or the outlet hose has been kinked.
- Inspect the Drainage hose at the back for kinks. - If any, straighten the hose
- Open the unit, and at the bottom sump check the small drain pump area for any foreign object that may be obstructing it.

Kind Regards :-)

If you found this solution helpful, please rate it.
