I need help figuring out

There should be a wiring diagram that came with the head unit. Check that and match up the colors to the on in the car. Assuming that you have the right wire harness that matches your car. There is normally a pattern that you'll catch on to when your wiring it. you should have 4 pairs of wire for the speakers, 1 ground, 1 hot, 1 for power ant., and an aux, also a clock, and maybe an ignition.

Protect what does that mean

Unless there is something wrong with the head unit, there must be a shorted connection. Try doing the same with no speakers plugged in and see if the protection breaker trips.

If it does not, then one of your speaker cables is shorted. Try installing the cables one by one, and test it, to see which one is at fault. Other remote possibility, is that one of the speakers is blown.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

Clock settings

For the mp235... the manual wasn't accurate. See below...

To set the clock, push the source button until you're in standby mode. Hold the left knob down (volume ctrl) until menu comes up. Either push the left knob OR move the right up or down (can't remember which) until you see Clk Adj. Push the vol ctrl knob (I think). Then, the knob on the right goes left right for minutes/hours, and up/down for the other. I believe you can push the vol knob then once its set.

Radio display says protect. does not emit sound.

Sounds like you have either a short in your speaker wire somewhere, wires touching in the back of the unit or a short inside the stereo itself... Try pulling the radio out and unhooking all of your speakers...Turn unit back on after all speakers are disconected...If unit still shows protect, then radio is bad...If it doesnt, power off and hook up speakers one by one and power it back on till it shows protect again....When it does, the last speaker wire you hooked up has either a crossed wire or the speaker is bad...

The speakers in the rear

There is no setting to turn them on or off but if your fade on the cd player is set all the way to the front, thats the only way your back speakers wont play if your absolutely positive theyre hooked up correctly...but professional or not, its still always a possibility.

I bought a used car

This is direct link for the user manual of your product:---click on it. http://inform3.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/KDC-MP2035.pdf ------------- There is a $-digit security code that you will have to enter to unlock the radio unit from LOCK mode.as you said that you bought the car used so the 4 digit code must be set by its previous owner.Get this 4 digit code from the previous owner if possible. For how to enter security code there is a procedure mentioned in the manual on page number 18 and 19. ----------- But if you dont have 4 digit code then you will have to get it from dealer .

The password can only be retrieved from service center or from the dealer of the unit.

Because at the back of the unit there is a serial number mentioned and the password/code only can be retrieved from the serial number. Each and every device/unit has its own serial number so one serial number code/password will not work with other serial number code password.

The service center or the dealer has the list of code for the serial number so as soon as you provide the serial number he will get the password/code retrieved for you through the list.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
