WHY CAN'T I BAKE A FROZEN MARIE CALLENDER CHICKEN

I do it all the time. It works just fine. I wish I knew why they said not to. I didn't read that on the package until I had done it a few times. I guess what you don't know won't hurt you.

Toaster oven just stopped working...

With mine, the toaster function stopped working. The light lit, but the relay did not click. This happened about a year ago, but then it started working again. Now that my waranty expired, it seems permanent.

The relay requires 12V, but I only measure 5V (no audible click). When I pulled the relay, the drive went up to 12V, so the coil is loading down the source. Not sure whether the problem is the coil or the source. It would be nice to find a schematic. When I put the relay across a car battery, I heard the click indicating that the relay is working.

I cleaned the contacts, and get the same result.

Cuisinart toaster oven modele no.TOB-30BWC, serial no.50421.

The contacts for these toasters fail. The plasic cam that depresses the contacts also can melt. The design is poor and no replacement parts are available. When selecting a setting, if the selection is not exactly perfect, the contacts arc and eventually fail. Unless cuisinart changes the selection cam to a solid state or relay, this failure will continue to happen during normal use. If your unit works properly do not switch the function setting while heating, this will cause the contacts to arc and erode the contact surface. This posting is applicable to the TOB-30BC, TOB-30BCC and probably all TOB-30XXX models.

Cuisinart tob-30bw,is not starting ?

The problem is 4 capacitors on the small circuit boards inside. Three 220uf 16V and one 1uf 50v. These apprear to be going bad from internal heat drying them out and they fail. Symptoms include toast will not start when button pressed, or does start but then stops soon after. A buzz or hum heard when the Toast selection is made..(you should hear nothing until the start button is pressed) and the timer beeper no longer working. These are about $2 in parts, and easy for a good electronics person.

Cuisinart Model TOB30BC Control Function

I have the same Cuisinart toaster with a different problem. In taking it apart to try and fix it, I may have gained insight in to fixing your problem. If your are willing to get under the hood of your toaster, you might try working with the electronic contacts that the function dial controls (it might void a warranty, but since you are out of warranty period no problem):

1. Unplug it from the wall

2. Remove the stainless steel case from around the toaster via the small screws around the toaster's bottom, sides, back and the black screws at the top just inside the door. This should allow you to see the electronics behind the dials.

3. Look at the function dial. by turning it you are turning a white plastic cam which presses down different combinations of metal electrical contacts to make the functions work. I suspect there is something wrong with the contacts that are pressed down to control the "BAKE" function. Turn the function dial to "BAKE". and Check the contacts that are pressed down by the cam.

4. Are the contacts free of crud or corrosion? If not, try cleaning them with a small brush or q-tip with CLR or some other rust remover or degreaser. After cleaning let them dry and plug in the toaster (once plugged in do not touch the electronics!) and try "BAKE" for a second. Turn it off and unplug it. If it works, reassemble. Otherwise try step 5.

5. Are all of the contacts pressed down by the cams completely in touching the metal on the plate like they are supposed to? If not, try bending them so they will touch when closed by the cam (but remain open when the cam is not pushing them). Are the contacts free of crud or corrosion? If not, try cleaning them with a small brush or q-tip with CLR or some other rust remover or degreaser. After cleaning let them dry and plug in the toaster (once plugged in do not touch the electronics!) and try "BAKE". If it works, unplug it and re-assemble.

6. If its still not working, email me ([email protected]). Maybe I can help. I am also willing to buy your toaster so I can fix mine.

What is exactly a toaster oven?

A toaster oven is a cross between a toaster and an oven. But unlike a toast, you can cook things in it like you would on a regular oven. It might also be more comfortable than a regular oven, because it heats up faster and saves energy. I even bake cookies in it! The only problem is that it is usually much smaller than a standard oven, so you probably won't be able to bake a birthday cake or a roast in it. Other than that, it's a very useful device. have fun!

Broiler element

Its an on or off thing. No way to control the flow of electricity.

The elements are bigger than necessary to heat the unit quickly, the problem you have is a bad thing with food that burns easily but a good thing that makes these units come up to temp so quickly after turning on.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do is put more space between the element and your food or use aluminum foil (not suggested, its too close to the burners).

Eventually the contacks will fail (unless you are one of the lucky ones).

Good Luck

How do I remove the unit cover to get at the start / stop switch to test the start / stop switch and check for a loose connection

The process for removing the unit cover and accessing the start/stop switch can vary depending on the type of equipment you are working with. Here is a general outline of the steps that you can follow:
  1. Turn off the power to the equipment: Before you begin, make sure that the equipment is powered off and unplugged to ensure your safety while working.
  2. Locate the unit cover: The unit cover is usually located on the top or side of the equipment and is held in place by screws or clips.
  3. Remove the screws or clips: Use a screwdriver or pliers to remove the screws or clips that secure the unit cover in place.
  4. Lift off the unit cover: Once the screws or clips have been removed, gently lift off the unit cover to expose the interior of the equipment.
  5. Locate the start/stop switch: The start/stop switch is typically located near the control panel of the equipment.
  6. Inspect the start/stop switch: Look for any visible damage or loose connections on the start/stop switch. Check the wires to make sure they are securely connected.
  7. Test the start/stop switch: You can test the start/stop switch by pressing it several times and observing the equipment's response. If the equipment does not respond, the switch may need to be replaced.
It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions when removing the unit cover and accessing the start/stop switch, as the exact process can vary depending on the equipment. If you are unsure about any steps or feel uncomfortable performing the task, it is best to consult a professional for assistance.
