Amana Wall unit blows cold air before heating
The cold that you describe may be just unconditioned air? If you are certain you can hear the comp operating for a couple of minutes, and then the heat starts, I would guess it is a reversing valve issue if it's a heat pump and it probably is. Or the control board acting up. I've had a lot of issues with the boards in the Amanda PTAC units. I can't remember how to configure it, but if you Google "Amanda ptac configuration", there is a lot of info online. May try a reset method first. Hope this helps!

Self evaporating simply means there is a drain pan with a heater device installed that will evaporate and condensate that drains from the unit into the pan.
You do not need the external drain pan unless the unit makes more water than the drain pan and drain pan heater can handle.

Empty the water pan. It not sealed so dont slosh it around. Mine did the same thing. Amana rep was an ***. Wouldn't give me an inkling of what to do. So i started to fiddle around. There was a lot of water in it Be careful. I brought mine to the tub and drained it for close to 2 min. Started right back up!

All this means is that the Copeland monitor is sensing amp draw on the compressor but it is not detecting a Y signal calling for the compressor to run. If there is no problem with the contactor and equipment is running fine, check for the jumper wire that carries the Y signal over to the compressor monitor.
Replacing an amana mercury thermostat with honeywell programmable. Old wires are y1,w1,w2,g,rc/rh. Have y1 to y, w1 to o/b, w2 to aux, r to r, g to g. Now outside will not shut off when heat is on.
What is -the outside?
Heat pump, gas, electric heat combination?
You may need to back track, double check the Honeywell configuration jumper or software settings for your type of heating used.
I have a 9000 BTU Amana PTAC that is dead.
Check voltage in , there could be one side of breaker burned causing only one side to come through. This happens on older main breakers frequently which messes up whole house.
