MDBH945AWW maytag dishwasher panel lights will not

These control boards do not have fuses on them. I opened mine up when the front panel touch pad stopped working and the LED indicators were anemic. This is a sign of the ribbon cable connections have oxidized. The ribbon cable connects the touch pad to the control board.
Others have written up nice solutions on similar Maytag diswashers with the touch pad.

The previous expert shows that you can diagnose this by using a 10k resistor and connecting pin 6 and 10 on the ribbon cable connector and it will start the dishwasher (you have to trip the door handle and carefully do this with the power on). This proves that the control board is fine and ribbon cable connections are the problem. Don't forget to quickly trip the door latch once the dishwasher starts.

My solution was to purchase a contact cleaner called Deoxit. You can order from RadioShack.com or get at Frys. Spray Deoxit on both the ribbon cable end (removed) and into the connector on the control board. Deoxit removed the oxide on the connectors. The twin pack Deoxit spray comes with a solution that helps prevent corrosion. I am 1 day into the successful repair of this model Maytag dishwasher.

Previous people have suggested heat and steam get into the control board and oxidize this connector. I notice on the top right where the control board sits, there is a gap to allow steam to get into the door/control board area. I used bathroom caulk to seal both sides of the door to hopefully prevent further corrosion.

Latch handle broken

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Your parts are here:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5177084 See item 3
This comes apart by removing the screws from the inside of the door. Control panel first. Then door skin if necessary. Make sure to check the condition of the door striker also. (part that latch locks on to.)
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Now this fix below may not work, but it is always worth a try, if it fits the criteria. Ok so your dishwasher won't do anything... it justs sits there and "Hums" you can't make it respond to any controls, and the ONLY way to Stop it. is to unplug the unit, replugging back in it simply "Hums" again and will do nothing.
Now this happens because, the STOP Button, is pressed and the "Door Opened", during the Wash Cycle. This should NOT be done. You should NEVER TURN IT OFF MID-CYCLE. you should instead, Simply, pull on the handle, to Open the door, the system will take care of everything, after, you close it,and pick up where it left off. The turning OFF, makes the machine "Think" that a New Cycle, is going to be done, before the old one is finished, and resets itself to do it all again. But it still has water, that's not meant to be there so it must dump it out.
Now, the FIX. Take the Dishwasher, out, and tip over on it's side, tip to about a 45' angle. Water will come out from underneath, this is from a small "Overflow" reservoir. this reservoir has an "Anti-Flood" switch. The removing of this water will "Reset" this Switch, and allow the dishwasher to work again.
So what happens, is this, when the STOP button is pressed Mid-Cycle, the machine must "Dump" whatever water is still in the machine, into the "Overflow Reservoir". This water then causes the Anti-flood switch to jam, and this stops the machine, until it is reset,by the above method.

Have a real problem with etching, filming spotting

There are many probable causes of failure .

To clean the dishes the water temperature is essential. It the water is not hot then the dishes will not be cleaned properly. So check the water temperature.

Also check the filter in your dishwasher.

If you are in an hard water zone , then try reducing the amount of detergent used and then try cleaning the dishes.

Will not start

I have the same problem and it turns out that it is the front panel touch pad that cost $185 for the part. I plan to just buy a new washer.

Sediment falling off heating element. Is this

Hi,
That is normal mineral buildup... in fact many of the element are made to flex a bit to cause the mineral to fall off of them so they don't get too insulated and burn up...
