I have a ptac unit

Hello,

The solution can be view and solve from two process.
1). From the fan connected to the evaporator and ,
2). From the compressor connected to other power component.

Please this answer this question on your own?

(A) Does the fan run before it finally stop running
(B) Doe it cool the room before it finally stop working if the air condition perform the above function before it finally stop,
then the below solution will lead you on hoe to go about it ,but both work then it need to be refill with gas

What you are to do to solve the problem is to carefully uncrew the air condition the trace the wiring program to the fan first of all the check if the is an brig or loss wire from the fan if there is fix up back to the fan but if there is very wires look to be fine then,

You will have to test the the compressor if there is a leakage from the gas with gas reader or detergent solution in water apply it with a form of clean rag round the condenser to detect were the leakage is from.

Hope this solution help?

Thank you and thanks for using fixya.

The light on the board

If the indicator light wont turn on but the air conditioner still cools, the control panel maybe unplugged from the circuit board or the control for the led light on the circuit board may have gotten defective. If this is the case, you need to call service. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/elixirjose_00375ea24bd8141b

How many btu in heat mode does my amana heat pump

the compressor as you have listed is 12,000 btu so it depends on the energy effieciency rating for how many it actually produces in hot air..

Not getting cold air

1 Check that the unit still has elec. supply. 2 check overload trips to compressor / fan 3 check gas charge (is it leaking and locked out on low gas?) 4 possible pressure switch fault.

Model PTC093B35AMBP .AC unit will not start., fan

The very first thing to check is the capacitor. If it looks swollen or leaky it probably has failed. 25795c3.jpg
When both fan and compressor won't work their is an excellent chance this is the problem. If that is ok the control would be next suspect. Since BOTH compressor and fan won't run you either have a capacitor or control switch malfunction. I am leaning towards the capacitor route. Let me know

House wont cool ..tried to reset breaker in fuse

Does this unit have 2 breakers to it? The model you put down is a PTAC and generally just plugs in to the wall so it would have only 1 breaker. If I recall correctly it's got a 5 year warranty on parts so it may be worth it to check with your local HVAC tech and have them do a diagnostic for you. A good place to start would be Amana who can tell you the authorized service company in your area. They'll get the part for free and should roll the diag fee into the repair cost so you'll only pay for labor (if it even needs a part). Their sales and service number is: 1-800-647-2982. Here's a link to your warranty info:

Blowing of cold air every 5 minutes, and it says FP on the screen

FP is the code for frost or freeze protection. The unit will automatically do this periodically to prevent any damage caused by low temperatures although it should not be running as frequently as every five minutes. If the outside temperature is not low then it could either be a problem with the exterior thermistor (not the one you see from inside your room) or the control board could be on its way out.

Is it normal operation for these units to EVER

Yes. Heat pumps have to go into defrost just like a freezer when the temp gets too cold outside. The heat pump will temper the indoor air electric heat.
